I go to the match with my old man 70+ he used to walk from Tunstall every week to watch Matthews, Franklin etc with his dad and has seen the rough and smooth.
I'm 39 and look back on the my best time (until recently) as winning promotion with Lou and a couple of Autoglass trophys, but mostly watching though, well, a 'lean period' to say the least. Saw a few games in the early 80's but wasn't like this.
But my 2 girls 10 and 7 have been going for the last 4-5 years and they all think this is pretty normal!!!! I try to keep their feet on the ground but the eldest thinks piss taking glory hunting Liverpool fans at school is normal.
I never thought we'd see all this in my life time, funny old game Saint.

I had plenty of emissions; nearly shit myself at one point in the 2nd half.

i love being where we are now but for me early-mid 90s was a great time to be a stokie. Steino, biggins, rooster, sheron, overson even muggsy bring back nothing but happy memories for me. And obviously the vic and just the whole community spirit of the club back then was something else. Something just seems missing from matchday xp nowadays. Being in the top flight is amazing tho and shouldnt be taken for granted

First game was '95 but I consider the early 2000s as the time when I started becoming a proper fan. I'm so happy that my current age has coincided with this period in our history as I think I'm the prime age to take maximum enjoyment out of every occasion (22).

Know what you mean. My lad's 9 and this season has steadily grown into an avid Stoke fan - going instead of my dad to some Prem games and all the Cup games (Carling and FA) this season, and asking questions about the Club and the history. He's gone from me asking him if he wants to go, to him asking me if he can go. This morning he went to school proudly wearing a Stoke scarf and no doubt telling his armchair Manc/Bin-dipper supporting friends that he's going to Wembley.
God knows how I'll keep him rooted in "normal" experience if we should get to Europe. It's cheesie, but they are the future though. You just have to hope that if the club goes through a barren period again, the kids hold onto the memories of the good times and it keeps them going.
