Now, apologies if this has already been posted/I'm wrong But doesnt the holder of the F.A cup get a stop in the europa league, and seeing as both manchester clubs are already pretty much guarenteed europe next season, it'll go to the runners-up by default, so a win against bolton could bring european football next season!

It has been confirmed by Sky that either Stoke or Bolton will be playing Europa League next season

I think just seeing stoke with europa league badges on so soon after coming up would be enough for me, even if we lost to the worst teams in the competition

It works like this:
FA Cup Winners: Europa League place.
However, if the winners of the FA Cup qualify for the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE (not ANY European competition), then the FA Cup Runners Up get the Europa League place.

Yeah we would.
That's why on sky there is a dotted line below fourth (champs league) and fifth (europa)
3 Europa League Teams:
League Cup winners get a place providing they're not already 4th or above FA Cup winners would get the other, again providing they're not fourth then the FA cup finalists then 6th place or 7th
So basically a Bolton v Stoke draw has ended Liverpools hopes of European football next season!

UEFA handbook does indicate we only qualify for Europa League if we lose in the final to a Champs League qualifier - but BBC are now saying this..? news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/9423538.stmNow then, the draw for the FA Cup semi-final also has another connotation... by our calculations, it looks very unlikely that sixth place will now be good enough for Europa League qualification. We think Bolton or Stoke are guaranteed a Europe League place courtesy of an FA Cup final appearance, provided their opponent - Man City or Man Utd - finishes in the top six of the Premier League. Now, England get an extra place in the Europa League if Man City or Liverpool win it, only if they don't qualify by some other means (i.e fifth place takes precedent over winning Europa League), while there is, of course, an extra Europa League place for the team that wins the Fair Play League. But, as it stands, you'll need to finish top five if you want to qualify for Europe this season. We, erm, think. [/color]

UEFA Handbook is right, I would say...
And the BBC is nearly right:
We think Bolton or Stoke are guaranteed a Europe League place courtesy of an FA Cup final appearance, provided their opponent - Man City or Man Utd - finishes in the top FOUR of the Premier League.
Correction in bold.

not sure myself, but even so, wouldnt Portsmouth have qualified last year on that basis? Pretty sure they were not allowed to enter as a punishment for being in administration.

Surely a win against Bolton and we can attract players we were miles away from in January! Could be a massive game!

What if we lose in the final to City who come 6th and Liverpool win the Europa cup?
Is it ok for us Stokies to support the shit vs City who are cast on certain in reaching the Champions league?

not sure myself, but even so, wouldnt Portsmouth have qualified last year on that basis? Portsmouth didn't bother applying for European licence in time. I believe a club has to apply for the licence each year before a deadline (early on in the close season) and submit their finances for scrutiny.
