I'd go for:
Begovic
Wilko - Huth - Shawcross - Higgy
Pennant - Delap - Wilson - Etherington
Fuller - Carew
I thought Pugh and Whitehead were the worst players on the pitch last-night, I'd give them a rest on Saturday. We all know Higgy's distribution is crap, but I can't recall Danny Pugh completeing a pass last-night, at least Higgy is reliable defensively and is a good talker.
To me Wilson is completely wasted at full-back, let's play him in his best position and see if he can open a few things up.
The retaining of position in the middle of the park was crap again last-night, at least Wilson has the ability to open things up through the middle.
And let's start Fuller from the off, we've already seen what mayhem he can cause at Upton Park, 8 minutes here and there is no time to judge his performance, give him a decent time on the field and he'll tear Upson a new arsehole.

You being serious? You mean you would actually leave Walters on the left, drop Matty and play Carew and Jones? Surely not ;D

I'd go with
Bego
Wilko Huth Ryan Higgy (make him capt)
Ethers Wilson (Whitehead was awful last night couldn't pass, tackle without giving away a foul, control the ball) Delap (for his throw alone) Pennant
Carew Walters (I'm not convinced by Ric like KJ his heart or heads not in it. At least you know what your going to get with Walters 100 percent effort)
My Hammer mates terrified of Ric after last season I just don't know that he's that player anymore he looks really unfit at the moment.

You being serious? You mean you would actually leave Walters on the left, drop Matty and play Carew and Jones? Surely not ;D If Ethers is fit, it's the only change i'd make...drop walters. Keep with Jones and Carew! Jone caused problems last night in the 1st half. People can keep their 'jones is a bag of wank' rose tinted specs on all they want. But in the first half he created a few chances, ran at players, and was unlucky on a number of occassions...He's slowly finding his form again, and he wont find it sitting on the bench. West ham are poor at the back, in particular in the air, so Jones and Carew will cause them problems.

I think we should take the Wilson/Pugh experiment a step further: - Begovic Wilko Huth Ryan Collins Pennant Delap Deano Ethers Wilson Pugh Failing that: - Begovic Wilson Huth Ryan Pugh Pennant Delap Deano Ethers Fuller Carew

It should be the team that should start every week if they're all fit;
Bego
Wilko Shawcross Huth Higgi
Pennant Delap Whitehead Ethers
Fuller Carew
It really isn't hard.

Walters impressed me last night but he still looks as lethal/threatening to opposition defenders as John Inman with a pink feather duster.

Sörensen Shotton-Huth-Shawcross-Wilkinson Walters-Whelan-Pugh-Etherington Fuller-Jones Subs: Begovic (just so he gets some rest before the FA Cup game), Higginbotham, Faye, Whitehead, Tonge, Soares, Carew [change my line up after reading a scfc020 post in another thread, have forgotten all about Shotton... ]

Walters impressed me last night but he still looks as lethal/threatening to opposition defenders as John Inman with a pink feather duster. ;D To be honest, I just don't like the idea of dropping him when he's playing pretty well. I'd put Fuller on at half time if we're playing rubbish again. I think everyone knows that it's gonna be Carew + KJ/Walters up front and Ric will be on the bench. I wouldn't even be surprised if we go back to 4-5-1 again.

it really is that simple.
same team as you and bayern.

Beggo Wilson, Shawcross, Huth, Pugh Pennant, Whitehead, Whelan, Etherington, Carew Walters
The main issue is - Whitehead and Whelan are NOT 3 yards in front of the backs.

At least we won't be favourites for the win. We don't do the favourites tag very well do we. (massive understatement)
The irony is that the performance and result last night may just free us up a bit and take it to the Hammers on their patch..like at Arsenal 2nd half. Fancy us to get a result on saturday if JP and Matty both start with Carew and Walters up top and Ric getting a cameo 30 - 25mins 2nd half for Walters.
Keep Wilson at right back with Higgy at left back....Rory and Spot in centre mid. Beggo stays in gooal.
Kenwyne can go burn his pubes if he's that bored on the pitch.

If we had a midfielder who could create with his feet I'd have him in like a shot. At the moment Rorys throws create more than Diao, Whelan and Whitehead combined.

Right, either some of you have lost the plot or I was at another Stoke game to some of you last night. Overall the only two outfield positives were Pennant and WILSON at right back. I thought Wilsons use of the ball and tackling were good as was his positioning. Whitehead was awful but normally puts a shift in if nothing else. We could do with moving Wilson up to centre mid next season alongside a whitehead "upgrade" but I'd happily have him at right back for the rest of the season. Definitely "progressive" rather than "wasted". Team for WHU Bego, Wilson, Ryan, Huth, Higgy, JP, Delap, Woody, Ethers, Fuller, Carew

Judging by last night I'd go:
Begovic Wilson - Shawcross - Huth - Pugh
------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------
Pennant Fuller Carew Walters Jones Ethers
Why not, theres no point having anybody playing midfield anyway.
