There is NO SERVICE on the DISTRICT Line between Bromley-by-Bow and Upminster between 13.00 and 19.00 on March 5th, and the Hammersmith and City line is also closed - see www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/livetravelnews/realtime/track.aspx?offset=12If you go on 'journey planner' - journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk/user/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2?language=enyou will get some idea of how to get to the ground. If I get a ticket, I will probably go to Canning Town on the Jubilee Line and then walk, but I would be coming from Sarf London. The best bet from Euston might be to go to London Bridge on the Bank branch of the Northern Line and then get the Jubilee to Canning Town. However, the Jubilee Line is not very reliable at the moment. Having taken my anorak off, I will say that weekend closures are par for the course on London Underground at the moment. It could be argued that they shouldn't close a line when 30,00 people are expected at a football match, but why should they make plans when Premier League fixtures are changed so close to the date by the Premier League and the television companies? LU have also been known to close the Jubilee Line when big events are on at the O2 arena (North Greenwich station)... Admin - might it be an idea to change the title of this thread to something like 'No District Line for West Ham game'?

Sydenham - good spot! There was me thinking that they avoided clashing with football matches - I was wrong - I see now that this would not be a first.
I'll have a closer look. Need to get warnings out to fellow Southern Stokies too.
From a first look, a long walk or bus from Canning Town to the Black Lion* looks a good bet. Getting back will be more of a problem. I feel a post-match 'let the crowds get away' visit to the Black Lion may be in order!
A bus from Stratford is another possibility - can certainly get one to Plaistow - I used to live there and do this journey in my university days.
*Southern Stokies pub of choice, but keep quiet about it as we don't want everyone rocking up there ! It gets crowded enough with home fans as it is!

I have just read that the underground lines serving upton park are shut next week when we travel to west ham. Does anyone know how we can get over to upton park and if the overground is still running?

Does anyone know how we can get over to upton park and if the overground is still running? Yep TLF really is like my arse. I think the closest is Jubilee line to Canning Town and then either bus it which will be mental or walk (1.5 - 2 miles) straight down the Barking Road. Perhaps a local could recommend a safe refreshment stop enroute.

Am looking at jumping on the no.238 bus to Stratford on the way back, anyone know if this is a good idea or not, given the tube closures and the 'West Ham Flood Alleviation Scheme works'

Thanks for the cocky answer thebrit !! If you check Gravy's comment it begins "I think ". It's obviously a crime to ask for local advice seeing as we have so many London based fans. You just remain Master of your Domain........

Just had a look on TFl website. Agree Canning Town is a mental walk. They are putting buses on, so I would suggest your best bet is to do your intended journey and then just get a bus at the point where the tube stops (seems to be Bromley by Bow, but if you can get to Stratford this'll be quicker on the bus.
You might want to allow a bit longer for bus than you would for tube

So Basingstokie are you saying it's easier to get the bus from Stratford rather than Canning Town ?

So Basingstokie are you saying it's easier to get the bus from Stratford rather than Canning Town ? Fair point, I don't know about buses from Canning Town, but the bus from Stratford is a rail replacement bus, so all should be okay and its included in the cost of your train ticket Depends really on which station is easier for you to get too - Stratford or Canning Town

Cocknepott answered a similar thread last week, and mentioned a bus that would drop you off at Green St.

It mentions on the football guide that getting the overground from euston to forest gate station is also a option? This can be done by purchasing a off peak travelcard bout 8 quid?

Best advice from S. West? Usually park at Osterley then use tube always confused by congestion and emmisions charging when driving through London. Will drive all round M25 and park nearer WHU if its necessary, it just takes ages, any ideas?

I'm looking at National Express East Anglian line from Liverpool Street to Shenfield. Runs every 10 minutes. www.carlberry.co.uk/rfnshowr.asp?RN=BR005AGloucs - you could try one of the Eastern Stations to come in from... Brentwood is 27 mins by train and looks accessible from M25
