All things being equal stoke should win but if we play well & you don't we will win. A bit harsh. They could easily get a result even if they are under par. We're two divisions below them and one moment Premiership quality often counts. Remember Robbie Keane at Spurs a few years back...

Can we win in Stoke?
The last time we won - the Beatles first appeared at The Cavern; Elvis Presley reigned supreme in the charts; Yuri Gagarin was the first man in space; and JFK still had his wits and brains about him.

I just think the it's their cup final quote is a bit disrespectful it wasn't that long ago that we were in the same division.

I remember a 3-1 win the year we went up.
Friday night on the doomed ITV Digital.
Gunnlaugsson scored a penalty and Clive Clarke scored a good goal late on.
Can't believe that was nearly 10 years ago.

Think some of you Brighton fans are playing it a bit cool; surely it will be like a cup final to your players who do play? 5th round FA cup tie against a Premiership team: if they don't play like it's a regular league game then there's something wrong with them! (I understand it's different for the fans, although you get to visit a club who know how to stay in the Championship ) I expect us to have very little time on the ball (something that some of our premiership pedigree players might find unusual as it's usually us doing the running) with your guys chasing us down quickly and attacking in numbers. Think TP will play a moderate to strong side for this; losing to a team two divisions down at home is not good for morale whichever way you look at it, but it's a question of having enough quality to be clinical to ensure we're not undone by a last minute counter attack after dominating. A team containing 2/3 from Pennant/Etherington/Fuller/Carew should be strong enough to win, but I think it will only be Fuller and Etherington/Pennant starting. Sorenson in goal. Defence I would imagine to be as strong as possible, maybe with Shotton at fullback. Midfield; Whelan and Wilson CM, Delap on a wing (please Tony, no) and Whitehead on the bench. Jones on the bench I would imagine. Walters and Fuller up front.

We finished 1st you finished 5th,you beat brentford in the playoff final 2002. That's nearly nine years ago mate, in which time you've been relegated back to the third division and we've spent 2 seasons in the Premiership. Appreciate we're hardly a glamour tie for many, but Stoke are still in a different category to you lot in English footballing hierarchy and always have been. (No offence)

I wouldn't expect us to press that hard. We're all about retaining posession rather than forcing the play.

If you don't close our players down we will shaft you, sorry. Letting Pennant or Etherington run at you is suicidal because of their ability to beat players. If Fuller's playing and you give him time to turn and run at your defence you'll be treating your defenders for shell shock; 6ft2 of built like a brick shithouse Jamaican who runs with the ball like it's glued to his foot and turns like a greasy weasel on a sixpence ;D

We're pretty solid at full back. Calderon used to captain Alaves and Painter is a solid pro who is very capable if a bit less adventurous than Calderon going forward. I would expect us to give it a real go and try and give you a game rather than concentrate on keeping it tight. A draw would be a bad result for us, so it might well be a case of shit or bust. We play three upfront a lot away from home - it won't be a case of parking the Gus bus.

In theory, even our forgotten fringe players (who you might consider acceptable for championship level football) should be able to beat you. But, your players will be up for it, even if you, the fans aren't, and often playing with a greater desire to win is all you need to get a result.

Regarding our fringe players, Tonge, Pugh, Walters and Shotton are all decent championship players so even if we do play a weakened team we should still win.
Just hope that Pulis realises that we a two games for Wembley and have a great chance of making the quarter finals. Pulis will decide which club is in the hat for the next round.

Ahhhh Stoke memories. My abiding memory is the 5-1 demolition at our place on the last day of the 2005/6 season. Adam Rooney scoring a hatrick. Chants flying backwards and forwards of 'We're gonna win 5-4' 'You're gonna win 5-4' and then '6-5'.
Brighton fans celebrating the 4th and 5th Stoke goals. Chants of Rooney for England from our quarters (I'm sure most of us knew he was anything but English).
News filtering through that the scum (Crystal Palace) had scored a late goal against Stoke, towards the end of the 02/03 season, whilst we were destrying Watford piece by piece 'One nile to the Palace Scum'. The Theatre of Trees erupted when we found that out. A shame that Reading rested half their team in the final game and we managed to cock up at Grimsby.
I remember going to watch Brighton vs Stoke in the 92/93 season. We were on a high, having just beaten (Old) Division Two Portsmouth in the cup and I think you scored a late equaliser to draw 2-2. Not a bad result, considering you ran away with the league that season. In fact, I think we were one of the few teams to avoid defeat against the mighty Potters.

Just don't expect the away end to be packed to the rafters - I think most Brighton fans would rate every one of our remaining 19 league games more important than this one. Aston Villa last season was a bit of escapism from a shit season. We're dynamite at our level this time around so there are plenty of better games to attend. We already have 15 games in March and April and our squad has quality, but not in quantity. The most important thing to us is that there is a result, no suspensions and no injuries.

Ahhhh Stoke memories. My abiding memory is the 5-1 demolition at our place I walked out after half an hour. McGhee's fucking shitehouse football was too much for me that day. I remember a game on the final day of the season at the Goldstone when you had been relegated to what is now league 1 and brought down loads. Can't remember teh scoreline, just a great atmosphere.

Evening all,
Having been to the Britannia twice before and seen us lose both times, I'm not sure why I'm bothering again, but what the f/ck... I really don't know what to expect from the game. Gus tried his best to get us knocked out of the cup in the first round... and the second round - both going to replays against non-league opposition but now we're just coming back to our best.
I think it depends not so much on the players that Pulis puts out but your players attitudes. Watford thought they could just turn up and we showed them how to play football.
Anyway, have always respected stoke as a "proper" football club; hope you do well for the rest of the season.
Hope Howard Webb protects our players too!

I reckon he'll rest Whitehead, dunno why, but he does tend to.
Sorensen Shotton Shawcross Huth Higginbotham Pennant Delap Wilson Etherington Jones Carew
Will do me, JONES JONES JONES???????? I hear you shout! He needs a goal to get some sort of confidence back, and this could hopefully be the game to do it, so i would like to see him start personally.

Lets go for it and I mean go for it, not some of the starting XI with the resverves, I want the full side out if they're all fit, as Grapey says we're 90 minutes away from an FA Cup semi final. I along with many others have no idea what that feels like. So please Tone, if you really know what it means to us supporters young and old then give it a go and play the best side we have.

We should stick Tuncay in the hole just behind the two strikers for this one. We may as well have a go at them. Tunny is our only creative spark so its vital he gets a good run in the team..
Oh Fuck.

Would prefer a very strong team here and more reserves at Arsenal. We are never ever going to beat them on their own pitch, so let's go for cup glory and beating West Brom the following Monday.
Any two from three up front should be good enough Walters ok for Pennant, think he is our cup talisman Shotts at RB for Wilko Higgy at LB if fit please, not Pugh Sorro for Bego
Up and at em from the off, home draw in QF and let's be having you!

I just took a guess. Then again, now you have confirmed its only 50k a week he picks up, I can understand his lazyness. I wouldn't get out of bed for that much, how does he survive on that? Earning in a week what most don't earn in a year? It's a hard fucking life. WD £50k a week plus a nice signing on fee payable over the course of the contract.
