It just suddenly occurred to me. How many of the guys likely to turn out tonight would seriously think they'd still be playing in the prem? If they don't think they would make the cut, what's the point in them trying to get the team up, when they'll be out on their ear next season?
Just a thought like. Maybe that explains the problems loads of teams have when it comes to the crunch.

Well I never which player wouldn't want the opportunity to be considered good enough to play in the top flight of English football just in case they think they may not be good enough

Who'd want the massive pay rise that is written into most contracts for promotion these days, the added publicity, the chance to go down in a clubs history and be remembered forever, a medal to retire with, memories to retire with and ......of course, an open top bus parade of Stoke

They wouldn't just go to unemployment though would they? Worst case scenario is that they'd go to another chasing pack Championship club with a nice fat signing on fee, best case, they're playing in the Premiership. I think we can discount that one.

OK, so we can all see the selection mistakes, and it's obvious we are not playing particularly well, especially in that first half. But to say players in that team were not trying due to them being worried about not making the grade in the prem next season is the biggest load of bollocks I've ever heard in my life. What fucking game were you watching?

stateside - if enough people tell you often enough that you are not good enough, you will start to believe it.
we all know that we have the players/squad to get out of this division. the question has to be " do we have the manager to get out of this division?"
NOBODY can answer that one definitively as this is his first time. Is it because of or depsite Tony Pulis?
Maybe with ANOther manager we would be 10 points clear already....
wishful thinking.
we need to deal with the situation we find ourselves in.
the likelihood is that WBA will win more than they lose and displace us from 2nd.
we will drop like stones but hopefully pick up enough to stay in the play offs.
and then?
Is Pulis capable of winning in a play off final? Any play off games for that matter?
I don't know he has never played in them....
