You waste your money at Liverpool and Fulham then I did. FFS, what Pullis is saying is that the national press, media etc absolutely slate us, the club are trying to do a job and we dont need the local press lambasting us as well, people like Acres, Martin Smith, etc..We are all supposed to pulling in the same direction. Its a 25 man squad, players are rested, not just at stoke but other teams, no we aint got the depth of others but we aint doing bad. I was disappointed at Liverpool but i could reason with what he did, and not come out with the utter bollocks some on here come out with. People on here dont deserve the team to be in a position where it is, some think they are connoisseurs of football now we are in the Prem, some should stand back and have a read of there posts. Calling Pullis arrogant, Ha Ha Ha, oo me handbag. IF YOU DONT LIKE WHAT YOU ARE WATCHING THEN DONT GO, BUY YOUR SEASON TICKET THEN STAY AT HOME. JESUS WEPT. What a load of tosh For a start why on earth would I buy a season ticket and not go??? I much prefer to pretend and keep me money in my wallet. Love Sky and streaming Internet me, simply love it - makes me feel like a proper fan I also love if I can pretend to be pissed off by Fulham away and Liverpool away and walk out with lots of other angry Stokies, even though I didnt go and spend me hard earned wnoga expecting some fucking team to turn up, however you were there in the flesh and you were skipping happily after the game with other Stokies on to the club bus all smiling in the light. Well done you

The usual press conference on Thursday was cancelled too, Juliette Grace of five live tweeted Stoke were too busy. Todays events may help to explain that decision further?
Anyway good on you Tone, manage as you see fit. Hopefully you will shut up a few of the moaning bastards on this message board too. I'm sure some people on here are Vale fans in disguise, they moan too much to be Stoke supporters.

I really don't think TP has a point on this one. The local media give Pulis far too easy a ride no matter how bad the performance.
I would respect Pulis more in this instance if he had actually targeted the section of the public that had been critical of his approach on Wednesday...US the supporters.
I don't think that there was 1 person in the crowd at Anfield on Wednesday who thought that the team sent out and the performance on offer was acceptable and the dissent in the travelling ranks was clear, as it was on this board in the days leading up to this weekend.
Perhaps he should just criticise us as WE were the biggest critics. Ironic when the most negative man on the planet criticises the media for being negative. You couldn't make it up.

So what is Pulis saying?
It is one thing to take umbridge with what the local journalists are actually saying/writing.
It is entirely another to take issue with the local media for merely reflecting a cross-section of the opinions of the club's paying customers.
Is he suggesting the local media should filter out the negative and only allow those supporters with positive things to say about the club to air their views?
If so, then both he and the club are on very thin ice indeed.

I didn't say he should. I said I would have had more respect for him if he had told it as it was.
I am guilty of over-reacting myself on reflection. I was disgusted with our efforts v Liverpool. I really was. It brought out the true PHW in me and I make no apologies for that. I want to see my team "have a go" regardless of the opposition but we had lost before we even kicked off on Wednesday. That is not acceptable.
However, in the build up to the Wolves game, I actually said that I would rather see us field a strong team at Wolves, taking the cup seriously and field a weaker team at Liverpool if needs be. I also said that today's game was the most important of the 3.
In that sense, I over-reacted to Wednesday and should have waited until the outcome of today's game before commenting. We are through in the cup, we lost at Liverpool as expected and we picked up 3 crucial points today in the most important game of the 3.
Hence my view that I would have respected Pulis more for telling US/ME how it was than I do in his unnecessary pop at the local media who are far too easy on him. See Denis Smith comments in Friday sentinel as an example.

Of course I will judge him over a season and season by season the kiddie as done very well How that equates to fans letting off steam on individual rubbish tactic games is beyond me - it is on message boards and Radio Stoke for pity sake - not the terraces

See Denis Smith comments in Friday sentinel as an example. Most including myself were seething coming out of anfield, but some people cant reason with his choices. If he had a better depth of squad he would play a better "poorer team". Today was most peoples choice of the best team we have, that was his target nothing else, he needed the three points , they were on his plan, hence the 3-5-2 change. To say he is arrogant in his ways or his attitude stinks baffles me. Pullis shows a lot of dignity in his interviews IMHO far better than most managers. His interview today was good quick and to the point, lee cattermoal flipped it threw it in the crowd, brilliant , just after the interview Fat head bruce gave. stick that up ya pipe Brucie.

I don't think I have said his attitude stinks if that was aimed at any comment by me.
In my opinion Pulis clearly had some media training when we secured promotion and his interviews, as you rightly say, are good and a reflection of a man who is comfortable at the club.
There was, however, no need to criticise the local media who are ALWAYS far to easy on him.
It is the fans who are unnecessarily hard on TP and who are only too quick to jump on him for the slightest misdemenour. Look at the booing when they thought he was subbing Pennant for Walters today.

Tony is a very very lucky manager. Few other managers at any level get such an easy ride off the local media in whatever area of the country they work. Pulis seems to have attained "untouchable" status within RStoke and The Sentinel so he really ought to shut his moaning gob and get on with his job.
and in the words of the (in)famous Davesviews
"And that's a fact"

I pity some of you......we're 9th in the premier league....can you not just enjoy it?????? I genuinely think we could be top four and some would still complain.....really don't get what makes some people tick.....then again if whining and moaning is what makes you happy then keep it up!!!

I really don't understand what's going on with this one at all. It's not like when The Sentinel were taking the piss out of Gudjon for his strop with them.
Interesting that TP expects the local media to be almost an unofficial propaganda arm of the club.

Perhaps he's referring to the platform that Radio Stoke give to the irrational nutters who phone Praise and Grumble, and the airspace given to the juvenile text messages they receive. Not forgetting Garry McGraham who seems (I might be doing him a discredit of course) to take delight when we aren't doing well.
And by the way, we're 9th and this shit gets to 4 pages. FFS

FFS Local radio stations provide platforms for their local football supporters to 'praise & grumble' all over the country, why shouldn't there be one in Staffordshire too? On Friday night ... they gave air time to two fans to present their opposing views to each other, I would assume, in order to at least show some balance to their broadcasting. I've listened to the local radio station in the North East on line a few times recently and they make Nigel Johnson and John Acres sound as dangerous as Big Ted & Little Ted.
