I thought John Acres was extremely tepid in his criticisms - and the Sentinel didn't exactly savage him in any way.
Anyway, they were hardly out of step with the average fan, who was positively spewing.
The local media aren't supposed to be bloody Pravda.
Very unnecessary and a bit puzzling from Pulis IMO - probably laying down a marker.
Thank God he doesn't read what's on here if he's that fragile.

I think he does get it quite easy in the local media.
But they only seem to bang the drum, when there is something to be negative about. The Liverpool result and performance was poor, but with 3 games in a week, had we played a full strength team on Wednesday, and still lost, a combination of low moral and fatique, may have meant we would still now be on 30 points and not 33.
Coming home after the game today, Acres and Brammer still only wanted to discuss the weaknesses, and not the many positives to ome out of todays game.

The media are supposed to report a story without any bias. If they begin to be biased then they should rightly be criticised.

" These are people who are supposed to be supporting this Football Club and we think it is fair and reasonable that they should be more supportive than the national media. That's not the role of the media, Tone.

Once again hes trying to foster the siege mentality, nothing wrong with that, i just don't understand where hes coming from on this one.

If you cant stand the heat get out of the kitchen you fool, why should the local media give you an easy ride.
The fans were far more unhappy than the bloody local media so are you going to tell paying fans to shut up too.
Pulis should realise he is not god.

The official site should know better than to release a story like this. It makes the club look like dicks.

Took me a bit by surprise this, on the whole I think the reporting by the local media has been pretty even handed (perhaps even toeing the party line a touch too much at times.)
As Grapey says I think TP may be flexing his muscles here more than anything else.

How dare the media question his tactics at Liverpool and his team, fans forked out £80+ on a midweek game to expect us go at a fragile Liverpool side.

As Grapey says I think TP may be flexing his muscles here more than anything else. Smacks of toys out of pram that. Is pressure beginning to tell? TP gets a relatively easy time from the local media. I work down south a lot and the southern press make our lot look like wimps. He should keep his cake hole shut and appreciate that there might be fans who want their opinions expressed by the local media. I'm a TP supporter but he's made a mistake here.

Tone's at his most comfortable when his back is to the wall and he feels the world's against him and his team.
Like greenhoff's said in this thread, he's trying to foster a siege mentality.
He's absolutely wrong here and making himself look a bit daft, but if he can use it as a positive to get the team performing then that's what he'll do.

It sounds to me like he is grumbling about the balance of comments on P&G and letters in the Sentivale. He is suggesting that Radio Stoke were encouraging those with a gripe to get in touch. As we now know, he took decisions for the benefit of SCFC and those who can't see that should keep their big gobs shut

He really doesn't help himself sometimes does he? Should have kept his own council and enjoyed todays result. Hes in a very highly paid job and for a football manager he has massive job security. By the very nature of his job he will attract negative comments. To me the local media are very fair to him and indeed sometimes don't question him enough. Hes definitely going through one of his brainstorm periods where the worlds against him. This was very unecessary.

Massive fan of Pulis but he uses the word "negative" loads of times in that interview and yet his negative approach at Anfield is the one thing that everybody was moaning about. If we'd gone there with a more positive team and approach and lost 2-0 then the reaction would have been completely different. Being that negative away from home is OK if it has a history of success but nearly every time it ends up with a loss so i just can't see his infatuation with it.

"I just think there was a lot of negativity from both our local radio station and local newspaper following the game at Liverpool, and that is very, very poor."
Not as negative and poor as his team selection and tactics against Liverpool etc
The negativity starts with him.
