Forget tonight, bury it along with the memories of several other tepid away displays and get your mind focused on the massive game that is Sunderland on Saturday.
Team selection is key, Tone you've had a mare these last few weeks and your school report says "must do better". FFS pick your best players in their natural positions and have a go. Sunderland worst team at the Brit two seasons running and we can turn them over again if you just take my advice. So here goes............
Begovic
Wilkinson Shawcross Huth Higginbotham
Pennant Whitehead Delap Etherington
Carew Fuller
Subs: Sorensen, Shotton, Collins, Wilson, Walters, Jones, Whelan.
An easy 2-0 win will follow....................

I think it will be that team, the only change being Jones instead of Fuller

I think everyone would be happy with that selection as that is arguably our strongest team. So why didnt we play it tonight?

Id rather Fuller & Jones, both have a point to make to Bruce

I think that's the right team. The only problem is that I think Shawcross is still suspended.

Yep that should be the team but stokelad's right about Jones and Carew starting and I haven't really seen any evidence to suggest that TP is going to go back to starting with two wingers - although of course I hope he does do.
MD, I think you only get a two match ban for two yellows and and a three match ban for a straight red ... although I could be wrong mate.

Shawcross would have had a 1 match ban but an earlier red card meant he got 2. He's back for Saturday.

I think Jones & Carew will start together to be honest, not saying i want that, but i reckon it may be so. Or even Jones & Fuller, anyhows, he'll start Jones i reckon after not playing him at all tonight.

I think he will see Sunderland at home as winnable Paul. Giving Etherington, Delap and Jones given a rest tonight due to it being a three game week. I expect all three of those players to be back in the starting lineup on Saturday Pennant and Carew linked up well for the shot that was blasted across goal, so hopefully TP will keep them both in the starting lineup also.

Sorry folks - as I said on another thread, I forgot that the cup counts towards it, obviously a side effect of Stoke's FACupitis.

Begovic Whitehead Huth Collins Higgy Pennant Delap Wilson Matty Carew Jones
Whitehead at rb as wilko and shotton are both carrying injuries, playing either would be pointless as it would minimise the amounts of subs we would have available as one would probs have to go off. Pennant and matty are the two best crossers of the ball we have and so carew, who scored more than our entire striker force last year and kj our top scorer this year should be allowed to form a partnership, delap, as i dont know anyone better unfortunately, and wilson whose range of passing really is an asset.

I'd go for that team but with Fuller and Jones up front. Jones will have a point to prove so should be up for it.

Good choice I would just put Jones in ahead of Carew just think he will be up for it against his old team , Carew has had two hard games and can come off the bench if needed

Tone will probably go with Jones instead of fuller. If jones can't get motivated for this one then he may as well pack his bags now

Walters instead of Pennant, shocker mate. Walters had a shite game last night and can't finish. Shotton at rightback?! Wilco at leftback?! Oh my...

Wilko Shawcross Huth Higgy
Pennant Wilson Whitehead Ethers
Carew Fuller Subs: Soro, Pugh, Shotton, Delap, Whelan, Jones, Walters Thats what I'd go with, Collins left back in the changing rooms.....Tempted to put Pugh at left back tbh, but Higgy needs to have a run.

As we will be facing the macams on Saturday, thought now is a good time to start getting match info and what peoples predictions will be for score and team line ups.
Kick off 12:45.
Home win 2 - 1, Carew to be the first to hit the net

I have a horrible feeling that Tone will drop Pennant and stick Rory back out on the right. You just know that Diao will play some part as well.
Bego
Wilko Huth Shawcross Collins
Delap Wilson Whitehead Etherington
Walters Carew
Subs: Sorro, Abdy, Whelan, Diao, Pennant, Fuller
Obviously I also feel the need to bang Pulis's head against a wall until he admits to finally picking his best team and not his mates.
