And to think West Ham reportedly turned down the chance to sign him £1m a few years because Steve Clarke didn't rate him.

Barcelona bought David Villa for £28 million.
Shows what a fucking state our game is in if an injured Andy Carroll is worth 35.

Puts that Darren Bent fee in perspective.
Interestingly Carroll has apparently told the Talk of the Toon editor that he was pushed and didn't want to go.

£35 million!!!! What a rip off. He's only been in the Premiership for 6 months. Dont know how many games he played, but he was part of the Newcastle squad that got relegated from the Prem. Carroll scored for Newcastle in the 1-1 draw at the Brit in our first season in the prem.

Seriously? Footballers may be greedy, but they're also commodities. It works both ways.
