He keeps going on about the 3 year plan, the way I read it was he meant the club might start breaking the bank in season 4, always been behind the man for what he's done but serious doubts creeping in that that will be the case, love it or hate it the style of football he likes is here to stay, devoid of ambition and more of a worrier about staying in the league than having ago i.e west ham league cup game, at least have a go, who cares if we end up 10th or 17th if we had a cup final thrown in!! with Tuncay out of the door it seems and Ric now wanting out that leaves us with players with limited technical abilty apart from Pennant Hopefully something will be pulled out of the fire by midnight tonight and we might have a few brazilian flair players in the ranks tonight

I only ever heard him say we have to stay around for 3 season before survival isn't the only goal.

Stay up, buy players relatively cheap, keep the wage structure and then reward fans with an early bird window of prices pegged!

I'd presume that once we are safe for this season then Coates and Pulis will likely reveal the next phase of their plans sometime before the start of next season. I presume it would include a push for Europe and possibly plans for gradual enlargement of the stadium?

As i stated on the new signings thread the 4th year plan is to have 4 centre backs 4 strikers and 2 dickheads running around the middle for a laugh! Ultimately sending us into oblivion.
Hope i'm wrong like.... but looking at our transfer interests it certainly looks like a line up of :-
Bego Collins Higgy Shawx Huth
Delap Whitehead
Jones Carew Lita Jerome
Although it does look like we can replace Lita and Jerome with two other fuckwits of = importance as things develop.

I'll go out on a limb and say a flat back four, two solid holding midfielders, one ever present winger, winger or another defensive midfielder on the other side of midfield, one withdrawn striker and one out and out front man. Keep men behind the ball, get it forward as quickly as possible, keep our shape.
But with better players.
Just a wild stab in the dark.

1. To get the average height of players to 6' 10" 2. Develop the ability to throw the ball the full length of the pitch 3. To leap buildings in a single bound. 4. Go faster speeding bullet 5. Be stronger than a locomotive.

To come up with another 3 year plan. We did want to go with 5 year plans, but it was too Stalin-esc and a 4 year plan would just seem like we're ripping off the world cup, olympics etc etc. I imagine it will be 3 midtable finishes, then onwards to european spots. Which to be honest taking our time and spending almost 10 years to solidly establish this would be well worth it for the future of the club.

I will go out on a limb here.. taken into account of who we are signing , who we are letting go, what our tactics are ..... it will be exactly the fucking same as the last 3 years.

Read more: oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Potters&action=post&thread=148920&page=1#ixzz1CdmokEm0Serious point here. Does anyone think we've actually been a little bit spoilt by the first 3 years? I think if you'd asked any of us what our hopes were before that first season, even the most optimistic would have said something like Season 1: stay up Season 2: stay up Season 3: consolidate, start to look at becoming "established" Most of us, if we're honest, didn't even expect us to survive that first season, never mind be finishing comfortably mid-table 3 seasons running (touch wood). In some ways if you'd asked us then what the 2nd three-year plan would look like, I bet it wouldn't be too different to what we've actually already accomplished, i.e. finishing mid-table, starting to look up rather than down, attracting big names and paying bigger wages. We shouldn't get carried away. A long-term view will pay off in this crazy division and its market. Our ambitions for the next three years should be top-half finishes and maybe a cup final. In the 3rd three-year stretch we can start to think about Europe.

Well based on what he actually said in interview rather than letting bitter opinions get in the way. I am sure he recently stated that he wanted to build a team for the future based around younger players!
