Fair play to em! Especially considering it's an early kick-off and on TV. Did they take the bigger or smaller allocation though?

I'd imagine they'd take the larger allocation, think they have in the previous 2 seasons if memory serves me correctly.

One of the best supported clubs in the country if we're honest about it. They usually do sell out and this is a televised game. Fair play to em, coming all that way to see them lose. ;D

They have never travelled to Stoke in big numbers to be fair.
I didn't realise that it was a televised game. I hate early kick offs.

davejohnno1: Are you confusing them with some other club mate? They have almost always been very well supoported at Stoke (even for night matches). In fact, they are almost always very well supported everywhere.

they are loud as fuck when ever we go up there (man united) however they do get very low numbers for lesser home games (and give us awful allocations cause they can sell out) . but yeah them and the geordies away from home are very good indeed probably level with teams like spurs and everton for consistant numbers.
thinking about it. stoke is 1 of very few clubs who give us a decent allocation at a decent cost.

They have nowhere near sold their allocation on their previous 3 visits to the Brit and on the evening when Rory broke his leg, they bought about 700.
Not knocking them by any means. They are a very well supported club, hence I have always been surprised by how few have made the journey to Stoke. The only time I can recall them bringing "loads" was in about 1989 when Gabbiadini was in his pomp for them. The filled the town end stand and the butler street blocks as I recall.

I'm not saying they've always sold out johnno but they have always (mostly) had very good followings at Stoke. I can't argue about numbers because I can only go on what I've seen but I'd be truly amazed if the 700 you quoted was correct. You may be right as I simply can't remember but I know that I've always thought they are one of the bigger followings that away teams bring going back several decades.
It's a sobering thought that we, on the other hand, have sometimes struggled to break into the 'hundreds' at Sunderland.

We have NEVER travelled well to Sunderland.
500+ with the most I can recall us taking being the fateful relegation clash in our new white away kit with Durban as manager. Even then we didn't sell out and took barely more than 1000.
They do have good support but am merely commenting that they haven't brought thousands to Stoke for a long time, which is something I always found surprising.

They just want to see all their ex players. The normally travel in large numbers to their credit.

Sunderlands away support is wank! They travel in numbers and thats it, they hardly sing. There like a man uniteds home support on a away day.

I think this will change next time Man Utd visit the Brit - that's why they handed out vouchers in all parts of the ground before the game this season informing supporters that if they consistently stood up then action would be taken (such as reducing allocations) - I don't think this was aimed at the home fans!

You obviously weren't at the FA Cup 5th round game..mid 70's..with 42,000 at the Vic..at least 10,000 being Mackems.. Sunderland have nearly ALWAYS bought big numbers to Stoke.. One of the best supported teams in the country

We all stood up at Fulham but that probably had more to do with the fact that it was so f....ng cold we would all have been frozen to our seats had we sat down.

Dont forget that back in the 80`s there was a lot of North East folk living and working down here, that accounts for a lot of their numbers to the Vic during that time.

Good. Makes for a better atmosphere when away supporters fill up their allocation, especially if it's the full allocation. Mightily impressive if they do fill up the larger allocation.
I'm hoping for Stoke to win 3-0, with a Ricardo Fuller hat-trick in the red and white of Stoke (even though we're playing in Liverpool Red rather than Stoke red, and there isn't that much white on this awful kit)
I didn't know that it was on TV either, that's a kick in the teeth. I hate TV matches. Sky should be allowed to televise one game from each league per week and each should kick off at 3PM on a Saturday. This sort of thing is absolutely ridiculous.

Still is loads of em in Kidsgrove mick and their kids have grown up following Newcastle or Sunderland. Yep, loads of them used to live on the old Coalville estate when I was a lad aswell. On SCFC direct, blocks 37-40 are "greyed" out. That would suggest that they are taking the full 2,800, but they did this for the Bolton game and gave blocks 37 & 38 to Stoke fans so not 100% By, the way, we still have over 1,000 left.
