2 game ban. 1 game for yesterday's card and the second game because it is his second card of the season. Apologies if I'm wrong but straight red = 3 match ban. It does not matter whether it is is his second of the season or not. Apology accepted - you are wrong. 3 game bans are for violent conduct only. This would have been a one match ban but he's already had one sending off so it's a two match ban

Last man and denied a genuine goalscoring opportunity. Taught it was a fair pen and defo red card.

It's difficult to understand quite what was going through Ryan's head. Dempsey may well have made it 2-0, but Begovic had closed him down and had more of a chance of saving that effort than the subsequent penalty. I know Ryan didn't have a lot of time to think about it, but it was a pretty brainless foul, didn't stop Fulham scoring, left us with ten men for most of the second half and now means we're without him for two or three games. I thought that. Begovic got to the ball almost immediately after the foul took place and I wondered at the time whether or not Begovic would have got there first.

No appeal at all required. Ref was right to send him off.
Nort much harm done. He misses one cup game he wouldn't have played anyway and away to Liverpool we'll lose whatever happens.

I thought that we were asking Waddo to get his cards out again after Saturday's woeful showing.
Obviously I was mistaken!
EDIT - That thought was made on page 1 which I hadn't seen. Sorry!

TP:
"I was disappointed with the award of the penalty because from my point of view it was a coming together of two players.
"To me, Dempsey looks like he is already on his way down before Ryan puts his arm around him.
"Even if you accept that it was a penalty, for the referee to then send him off adds insult to injury.
"What is particularly harsh is that we now lose him for another two matches, so the punishment doesn't fit the crime, and that really needs looking at."

Dempsey is for me one of the players in the PL I dislike the most. He's in the same class as El Hadji Diouf, always complaining and a big cheat.

TP doesn't seem to see it as a foul which was the reason for my question in the first place.

I'm surprised, we're normally better at holding our hands up and taking that sort of thing on the chin.
