Don't know the original source - probably a tabloid this morning? www.spurs.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=505437Gardner in demand
Stoke City and WBA are in a fight to sign Spurs Centre Half Anthony Gardner this summer.
Gardner was born in Stafford and started his career at Port Vale, playing 41 times for the club, before being signed by George Graham In 2000,
Both clubs are hoping to bring the player in on a free transfer, though I understand Tottenham are looking for a fee for the player who is currently on loan to Everton.
I would assume that either club would have an appeal to Gardner, if they were to gain promotion to the prem this season. I'm sure he still holds ambition to remain at the highest level, he is still only 27, so if he can regain a consistant level of fitness, he would do a very good job for either club

I would have thought with Rudge being his mentor at an early age we may if interested have a little sway with him, though to be realisitc it'll be who is willing to pay him the most money and what league we're in, though he would be an very good addition always looked decent even at that level.

if we do get promoted players like him who can do it at that level but are a teams who just dont play them, are the players i really hope we go for. Would be a very good player for us to sign dont think it would happen if we are in the championship next year tho.

Mouth watering prospects for next season, a lot will depend on exactly where we are though...
Poss perm deals for Riggot, Gardner, Pearson, Shola to name but a few..
Come on Stoke, this is why you all started playing football, to be at the highest level

That'll be the Rudge connection. His last big find at the Vale.

At the end of the day will he rather be playing 'hoofball' in the Premiership or 'pretty football' in the Championship for half the wages.
