Anyone else noticed how other Premiership clubs have followed Stoke and use the long throw? Today's games both Villa and Everton used it but they were piss poor imitations of the master Rory ;D.

Spurs used it late on too. The long throw was about a long time before Rory though, he's just made it fashionable again.

I'm sure you realise Rory didn't invent the long throw. All clubs have been using it for as long as football has been around. The first time I saw it used in extreme (and the second best thrower I ever saw) was Ian Hutchinson of Chelsea in the 1970's. He sprinted at the touch line and threw it so hard that his arms would windmill round on the follow-through. He could throw it from the touchline to the far side of the penalty area (and the Vic was a large pitch). I think Rory is probably better - lower, faster and longer throws, but he certainly wasn't the originator.

Ian Hutchinson for Chelsea in the 70's had a long throw. But the top league haven't seen anything like it since. Plus Rory's throw is far more impressive than Hutchinson's!!

Hutchinson used to windmill his arms after the throw didnt he. And he just lobbed em in too as do most of the current long throwers.
Didnt Ian Challinor (Tranmere) and that blond lad from Swansea used to do it too.
Rory has a much lower trejectory which makes it dangerous

Alan Biley used to do a very gymnastic version where he used to do a handstand on the ball before wanging it in, he had an impressive mullet as well
