£8million is a big big fee for a holding midfield player

£8million is a big big fee for a holding midfield player Well that obviously depends on how good they are. They bought him for 12 million with add ons and i'm sure Vieira, Keane and Makalele were well worth 8 million weren't they? Every plaayer needs to be judged individually and by their ability, not by sweeping statements based on what position they play.

If I can remember rightly Makelele was a huge fee, something like £18million!
Wenger dropped on with Vieira for around £3million, he was one of his best ever signings.

The numbers are irrelevant really. I was just saying that some holding midfielders are worth 8 million and others aren't. Just saying that he's overpriced because he's a holding midfielder is way too simplistic.

JJ on bench - and that Brazilian bloke not in the 18. He doesn't seem that expendable, does he? Mind you, not many of their fringe players could be as certain to raise the cash as he could, if they want to significantly upgrade with a really big money player? Completely forgot about that Brazilian lad, Sandro isn't it? Weren't we linked with him just before he signed for spurs? I'm sure he was described as a midfield destroyer too Just had a look on wiki, didn't realise they paid £14m for him.

On what I've seen of him so far against the s**t, we shouldn't touch him witha barge-pole!

Watching the shite v spuds and he is quality. A couple of wayward shots but would a starter versus the shit really be sold by floppy chops?
I'm hoping so but I'd take O'Hara

On what I've seen of him so far against the s**t, we shouldn't touch him witha barge-pole! He wouldnt have to try playing through balls with us though (theyve been shite so far today!). He'd be stuck in the cage just offloading sideways to a winger, he is good defensively and that is all Pulis seem sto want in a midfielder. Hes the best we can hope for I reckon, which Id be more than happy with

I think he's had a good game and would floppy chops really sell someone he's started against the shit?

O'Hara would be my choice but can you just imagine how long he'd have to wait for his debut? Coming back from an injury and lacking games! it'll be next season before he's 'game fit' for out Tone

Apart from those two long range shots I thought he played well too.
