Begovic was born in Bosnia, when he was born his family and him moved to Germany. To escape the war in Germany hs family then went to Cananda, when he was 4. Begovic played for Canada upto U21 level, then had a request from Bosnia, he rejected. A month later and Begovic was in the Bosnia squad. And has played for them ever since. So something to do with the poster being Canadian. Which war in Germany was this then? Did I somehow sleep through WW3? I was just about to ask that ;D

Well, what did he do in that Everton game when he faced the Everton forward? Should have been red. He hit the ball before the player how is that even a foul ??? This notion that if you play the ball first you can get away with anything is very outdated. You can win the ball quite cleanly but if the ref deems your challenge to be reckless he will give a foul and will brandish a card, colour dependant on the extent of your recklessness. Bego was given a yellow and can consider himself lucky it was not red. That said it was marvelous to see him come out with that level of determination and commitment. Loved it when he refused to let them stick the ball in despite the whistle clearly already haveing been blown making sucessive reaction saves. Looks a real top prospect to me, if he does leave at some stage in the near future I'd be really disappointed with anything less than £12M.

Yes the poster is from Canada. Begovic was born in Bosnia but moved to Canada at a young age and played for Canada for every age until U21. Then played for Bosnia at senior level. So I'm guessing the poster 'despises' Begovic because he thinks Begovic should have played for Cananda at senior. So basically the Ryan Giggs/England situation. I have spent years wishing Ryan never made that decision to play for Wales and am convinced we would have won at least one major international tournament if he had stuck with England. There again I still admire him as the ultimate pro and definitely don't detest him.

Giggs was never eligible to play for England, he played for the England schoolboys because he went to school in Salford but he is in fact 100% Welsh and not eligible to play for England.

I was pissed off with Begovic, but I know we're very lucky to have the bloke playing for us because he's easily the Prem's best young keeper next to Joey Hart.

I think if you check your facts Giggs was perfectly eligible to play for England.

I think if you check your facts Giggs was perfectly eligible to play for England. And i think if you check yours you'll see he wasn't Born in Cardiff to a Welsh Mother and Father. "As a youngster, Giggs captained England Schoolboys. Contrary to popular belief, he was never eligible for the full England team (eligibility at the schoolboy level depends solely upon the location of the school, in Giggs' case Moorside High School in Salford)." Thus sayeth the Wikipedia. Edit: Found the original source www.guardian.co.uk/football/2004/oct/06/theknowledge.sport
