Just wondering whether any posters still hold a grudge against Begovic. Not really wanting to gloat but I was adamant in the aftermath of the Shrewsbury game that we must try to keep him and was definitely in a minority on here. Well the boy looks pretty good to me and if anyone wants to question his commitment they might want to ask Louis Saha, see if he might be able to convince them. Not saying he'll stay indefinitely, its his career at the end of the day but I don't see a better young keeper in the league so if he does go on to bigger and better things it must only be for an astronomical fee. WELL DONE BEGO !

I think Begovic is more intelligent than fans and pundits give any footy player credit for...he had a point back then....that said hindsight is a wonderful thing

Imho hes one of the best keepers in the league, i think its a certainty he will go, possibly for 10-15m, and he will become one of the best in the world

I forgive him, but not because I think he's any good. Thought he was shite the other day, would have Sorro as my #1 and Simmo as my #2 any day of the week.
He doesn't seem to know what he's doing when setting up his wall for a freekick, and with the ref giving them out to Everton seemingly until they got a goal from one, I was panicked.

Don't forget IP he's still young and relatively inexperienced. He does everything else very, very well

His reflexes and shot stopping is fantastic. Honestly can't think of any other young keeper with his ability. I expect him to move on though unless we as a club progress very quickly. The way he handles himself on Twitter is something else to note. Engages with fans, responds to questions yet still maintains his professionalism. Let's not get into Shotton-gate but Asmir certainly is showing Ryan up.

I do agree about that, and I quite like how he comes for stuff on the edge of his box which he seems to do more than Sorro. stokingstokie, I agree about the Twitter comments he really seems a top bloke from that, but as one of my seddon stand seat neighbours asked of me, how much of that is an intentional positive PR act to counteract him begging to be sold and refusing to play that time? ???

I have always liked footballers that have played for Stoke and the incident earlier in the season, along with the no show for country a couple of months back, makes him seem like a bit of a wanker. That said, he looks a bit of class and once he keeps putting in the level of performance he is at the moment and giving 100% he'll have my backing. Similarly, I don't like Ric since the incident with Griff, but be is a top player and has done well for us so again I'm delighted to have him in the team.

WELL DONE BEGO ! I'll admit that i wouldn't have been bothered if he'd gone (because i thought he was a long way off). But he's proved me wrong and i've admitted it a few times. Definitely number 1 choice at the moment and he's really improved from the Fulham cup game where i thought he looked shaky and pretty poor despite having very little to do.

Not really, but as an old romantic if I was to get too upset about Players trying to forge transfers for themselves and squeeze every last penny I would'nt have anyone left to support! As a matter of interest if asked the same question about TP after he chose Bristol "bigger club" City over us could we get down to one of the reasons why a section of our support have never warmed to our Manager?

I despise him. but that's nothing to do with Stoke. go on? Begovic was born in Bosnia, when he was born his family and him moved to Germany. To escape the war in Germany hs family then went to Cananda, when he was 4. Begovic played for Canada upto U21 level, then had a request from Bosnia, he rejected. A month later and Begovic was in the Bosnia squad. And has played for them ever since. So something to do with the poster being Canadian.

He'll go to Man City or Chelsea and then sit on the bench for a couple of seasons before getting annoyed and going to play for some Bosnian team.

Yes the poster is from Canada. Begovic was born in Bosnia but moved to Canada at a young age and played for Canada for every age until U21. Then played for Bosnia at senior level.
So I'm guessing the poster 'despises' Begovic because he thinks Begovic should have played for Cananda at senior.

I watched quite a few Portsmouth games when James was 'injured' (read they couldn't play him to avoid triggering a contract extension) and knew he was world class then. I was buzzing when we signed him and knew instantly that he'd replace Sorro.
Spoke to Bego a few times through Twitter and he seems very happy here now he's #1.
I think not only will he stay, but he's our number 1 for a good few years to come. Future Stoke legend.

Well, what did he do in that Everton game when he faced the Everton forward? Should have been red. As much as I'd stick up for any Stoke player, that was never ever a red card. I didn't think it, the ref never thought it, Bego never thought it and neither did any of the anti-Stoke MOTD pundits.
