I have always wondered why teams are expected to win at home but not so away. I think we all agree that away followings usually get behind there team much better. Just think of saturday we were right behind stoke and i hardly heard a peep from Sheff Wed fans but we sat back. Why? Surely being roared on by 2 thousand fans is more of an incentive than 15 thousand fans sitting on there hands? Always bugged me!

I doubt if it is the travelling as for a lot of away games the team travels the day before. I suppose the size and condition of the pitch plays some part - not as big a part as Pardew claims, obviously! ;D

Familiarity with the environment?
And you definitely get a lot more dubious free-kicks all over the pitch.
