From the Daily Mail :
"Can anyone help me with this one.
The rules state that a club in the Football League can have a maximum of five loan players in their match-day line-up.
On Saturday, Sheffield Wednesday had six; four in the team and two on the bench. They broke the rules.
One of the loan players scored an important goal in the 1-1 draw with Stoke that could have serious implications on matters at the top and the bottom of the division, but the League have dismissed demands for punishment by claiming it is a 'technicality'.
Why isn't there an outcry, points deduction and fine? What's the point in having rules? This is outrageous."
Well said that man.

Of course it isn't official - it is one letter writer's version of what he claims the league have said. Does anyone really think that the league would have ruled that it was a "technicality" yet neither club nor any of the media have picked up on the fact???
