Just routed out my Stoke " On this Day " book and thought I'd share the notable occasions of December 15th with you Wednesday 15th December 1971 - With away goals not counting double, John Ritchie's 72nd-minute striker in the second leg at Upton Park appeared to have forced the League Cup semi-final against West Ham into a replay. The drama unfolded with only a couple of minutes left as Mike Pejic and Gordon Banks were involved in a mix up which resulted in the latter bringing down Harry Redknapp for a penalty. Geoff Hurst blasted the resultant spot-kick but the England man somehow got to it to force the replay. Wednesday 15th December 1982 - Mark Chamberlain made his England debut versus Luxembourg at Wembley Stadium, coming on as a substitute for Steve Coppell. The result was never in doubt and England won 9-0. Chamberlain got the sixth of the goals just minutes after coming on to the field. This was the last England goal to be scored by a Stoke City player. P.S. Chamberlain remains the last Stoke player to have a full cap for England doesn't he? ???

P.S. Chamberlain remains the last Stoke player to have a full cap for England doesn't he? ??? Yes, as Dave Watson had the last of his 65 England caps at the beginning of '82 prior to the World Cup in Spain.
