for the remaining games if all it gets is a fine. If we think that will win us the match, lets do it.
PC has got pots of money, and if our illegal loanees get us into the prem, he'll have even more pots of money.

This is the problem the Football League have!! If they just fine Sheff Wed then it is a green light for others if it means they get a result. If this was a cup game there is no doubt the tie would be awarded to Stoke (because it only affects the two teams involved) but with it being the league this seems to be different & I can't think of any precedents of a club being awarded a game because of the opposition playing an illegible player (unless anyone can correct me). Again if this was an amateur league I think there is no doubt the game would be awarded to Stoke & I can think of many times this has happened locally. From talking to a Coventry fan I think you will find that the clubs down at the bottom are more agitated about this than Stoke fans and if someone goes down by one point from Sheff Wed there will be all hell to play & maybe a legal challenge. I think the problem is that the rules themselves don't give specific punishments for their infringment. Leeds were only fined for the same thing but they lost the game so nothing was influenced. No doubt the league will want a fudge which sweeps the whole thing under the carpet asap as keeping West Ham up last year must have been the most ridiculous decision ever as has been proved this year. This is my first post on the subject so sorry if I am going over old ground with points raised many times before.

We'll get a fine and a 1 point deduction I'd have thought but Stoke will gain no points from this. Wednesday will point out the fact that we only played 4 of the 6 loanees. Still, it will be interesting and if you want to hear our phone in from 6pm - 7pm on Radio Sheffield to see what is said then you can online at www.bbc.co.uk/southyorkshireUP THE OWLS !!!

I think they'll take the easy option with a point or two suspended punishment and a fine instead. Really does put the FA in a pickle- they have to act quick and can't IMHO award Stoke the game. Is stupid on Wednesday's part that this could happen let's be honest and only have themselves to blame. If all 6 had played then could see a heavier punishment obviously 20 k fine and don't do it again or 2 point deduction m'laddy is my guess Of course they won't but shows they've taken some stance. Is a tricky one on the FA's part- are going to upset someone

The problem is we couldn't now claim we knew nothing about the rule after this debacle.

I can't think of any precedents of a club being awarded a game because of the opposition playing an illegible player (unless anyone can correct me). Apparently a previous case where teams drew has been found. Swansea in 2003. www.whydelilah.co.uk/news/4pm-Update--Stoke-s-hopes-fading.aspxNot even a fine there - merely a "reprimand". And they had 5 loanees on the pitch, not 4 like Sheffield Wednesday. If the authorities REALLY want to show a total lack of bottle then I think they'll merely quote this case and do nowt. Wonk!
