Today I did something I can never remember doing before. I stayed behind and applauded the opposing team and manager off the pitch, and then their fans. All three were simply first class today. Holloway tactically mugged Pulis today in his own backyard and he did it playing the best football I've seen down Stoke this season. If it wasn't for the fact that it was Stoke they were dismantling, I'd have taken great pleasure in watching a newly promoted side go to a place that is notoriously hard to get anything from, show no fear and go straight for the jugular. At times their sweeping forward play was incredible. Blackpool are going to win over a lot of people this season with the way they approach games. On top of this, I thought their fans were magnificent, obviously revelling in their Premier League adventure. That 'Best Trip' song is the best away song I've heard in a long, long time. No bullshit, just a team and set of fans enjoying their return to the big time. The Premier League is a much brighter and richer place for having them, and I for one hope their 'best trip' lasts a lot longer...

Seen Blackpool a lot over the last year – living here and all that. Did say in the Stoke – Blackpool match thread(page 2) that they were the best footballing team I have seen for some time and that Stoke had better be prepared for a royal battle.
Great thread though mate and nice to see a Stokie honourable in defeat.
Well done Blackpool and Holloway – a real breath of fresh air

the ONLY upside of today was the fact that we were done by a PROPER football club.
Their away support has always been very good, no matter what the league.
Chuffed for them. Everydog deserves its day and this is theirs, as it was ours when we came up.
Thet play some ace stuff & they are the best team I've seen here this season.

Also, Blackpool seemed like a proper English team rather than a bunch of foreign mercenaries a la Arsenal and Man C...

No, it's a case that we understand it's just a game and sometimes it's good to avoid being disingenuous. Blackpool, changing the Prem a bit at a time. Just like Stoke. I like 'em.

I agree. On chances, it should probably have been a draw, but one of those days of us. Difficult game for us, not often we are not the underdog and that's how we normally play. And it was exactly how they played; Blackpool (seems I get in trouble for cackpool ) play some nice football and bomb about like idiots, just like we did when we came up. I thought they did really well closing down our two main threats, Jimmy and Ringtone ... Ringtone especially hardly had a kick. More than anything, their striker managed to finish his best chance, our two did not ... that was the biggest difference. 4-3-3 works for them, because of the effort they put in. We should have killed them outwide, but like I say, our two wingers hardly had a sniff, after they had got to grips with Jimmy on the half hour. Fair play to them and Holloway - They'll stay up if they don't lose a couple of key players in January, or through injury.

They formed in loads of formations during the game I saw a
4-2-3-1 4-3-3 4-2-4 4-3-2-1
They were fluid and hard to handle with an ever changing formation that makes defending and knowing who You're meant to mark even harder than it usually is. Credit to them.

beyern is right.
They played Varney wide left against Wilko for periods, played Campbell in the hole for periods, Vaughan out wide right and then tucked him in.
But then again, when you can pass a football......

I thought Blackpool could have lost by 7 or 8 goals yesterday (we has at least that many golden opportunities + several more good-ish chances) & yet they deserved their win.
A strange game I thought in that Blackpool played miles better & Stoke were as bad (at home) as they have been since promotion & yet we had oodles of chances.Hit bar 3 times,1 off the line, goal disallowed,Fuller missed 1 on 1,2 free headers for Jones,Ethers cut in & shot over,Whitehead 3 chances & there were more.
Blackpool of course hit the bar & had good chances too.If they play (& defend that open) every week they will score goals but someone is going to put 10 past them. great for the neutral.

Obviously I'm one of the few that thought they just twatted it out wide to their wingers and Dudley Campbell???
They played better than us in ever department, but I wouldn't say it was a footballing master class.
