No contest, The Jam. One of the most exciting bands I've ever seen live - so much energy and passion. I liked the Style Council at the time but their stuff really hasn't aged well compared with The Jam's material or Weller's solo stuff.

Wrong board dude. And I still haven't forgiven Paul Weller for the style Council.

Style Council were alright, but put them side by side and it's a no brainer- The Jam all the way. Although really both groups were just Weller + some other people. Wish he'd stop with the dad rock nowadays.

This question is a bit like asking which was the better football team, Juventus in 2000 or Carlisle Utd in 2010 because Big Vince played for them both. And I don't even like the Jam.

Deffo The Jam - saw them at both Brighton and Pompey with The Vapors as support band in the 80's - absolutely superb ! Saw The Jam this year in August with Bruce Foxton and a local (to Me) singer Russell Hastings who is a Weller sound-a-like at the Bognor Rox on the Prom concert and would say still 8/10 - got the crowd bouncing anyway ;o)

The Jam were an excellent band, saw them live a few times (Bingley Hall.Viccy Hall,Trentham Gardens) and they were ace. Style Council were ok but I think Weller lost a few fans with the change in the musical style.Seen him in concert a few times in the past few years and he is still a top performer. The old Jam songs still get the loudest cheer.
