Is the 25-man limit done away with for the month? Can a player signed in the first week of Jan go straight into the squad or would he have to wait until the new squad is named?

I think You just swap them for one member of the squad. So say we treat Mama like a new signing, he would replace one of Tonge/Davies/Soares and that would be that.

That would mean we'd have to name another squad just for January as well as the one we name at the end of the window...

Wouldn't it just be a case of one in, one out and then name that squad at the end of January? Seems sensible to me.

I think January is like August was - no squad rule.

Right - but if you can stick players in and take them out throughout January, that effectively means there's no squad rule then (as LP says).

If that's the case, it makes a mockery of the whole damn thing.
While the transfer windows are open, clubs may change their squads as many times as they want. However they will only be able to make alterations outside the windows if there are exceptional circumstances and the changes are approved by the Premier League board.
Seems pointless to me.

Not really, in fact it seems sensible really - otherwise new signings would have to wait until the end of January to play. (Your one-in-one-out system would render a "25-man squad" just as meaningless as doing away with it, given that you could change it whenever you wanted...)

Not really, it would be one in, one out and stick to it. Once it's done that is it. That's sticking to a 25 man squad rule whilst allowing transfers to happen. The way it will be done means it's done away with for a month. Pointless.
