My friend laughed at me the other day because I claimed the latter.
Am I colour blind?

I can remember our promotion season, Ipswich had this cracking right winger... a black lad called Jon Walters. I'm actually still confused about how we've ended up with a white version of Jon Walters from Ipswich, has Roy Keane fucked us over or what?

The most contentious one of all is Mama, if he had been in 1950's America no one would have known whether he should be picking cotton in the fields or lynching the cotton pickers for looking at white women.

Santy.
I started this thread with no desire or need for any kind of racial prejudice at all.
I honestly did not know if Jon Walters is either black or white.
I still don't know, and I am saying this hand on heart...
To compare this topic to 1950's America, the KKK, apartheid, slavery, colonization, globalization, cheap labour or what ever the hell you may or may not have been inferring to, is simply not called for, and I do not appreciate your slight, joke or comment.
I find your comment both wrong and sensationalist to accuse otherwise.

prettything, I don't think santy's post was in any way a slight, nor was it accusatory, nor did it imply (not infer ) anything about you. I think it was just a joke.

Blick is not a colour; blick is an attitude.
I don't even like labeling wine; white wine & wine of colour.

Appreciate that Potterlog, and glad you feel that way.
Don't know where Mama, picking cotton or 1950's America comes into this thread.
It was either in bad taste or missing the point in a big way.

prettything.
I don't think it was either. I think he was making fun of the idea of someone not being able to tell the difference between a black person and a white person.
To do that, he chose a context where the difference was massively exaggerated (1950s America) and made a joke about it.

I understand that.
I live in Birmingham and really don't want to spout any kind of cliche.
I can tell the difference, however.
To infer otherwise makes me look, well, narrow minded.

Why would implying (not inferring ) it make you look narrow minded? It makes you look a bit daft, that's all. ;D
