How do you do it? Thought asking the fat bastards of the GDB would be wise. I've tried beer, I've tried pies, I've tried chippies, I've tried chocolate fudge cake with ice cream and extra cream. None of it works. I used to be a right little fat bastard but now I can't put weight on for love nor money, Is getting in the gym coupled along with protein and all that shite my only option?

Yeah weights and the protein shakes. Make sure you do a good work-out though if you're going to have protein shakes otherwise you'll end up as an ugly skinny ginger guy with a gut.

I feared this was my only option, I do enough rugby a week to cancel out any calories I eat anyway, protein might help me put a bit of muscle on from rugby anyway. Will get some whey ordered.

You're like 16 or so right? Any muscle mass you put on now is incredibly difficult to sustain with all but the most extreme training, the body just doesn't retain it that well at those ages. Basically build up slowly and as you get to 18, 19, 20 etc the muscle will build up faster. The body lessens the effects of both the good and the bad at younger ages.

You shouldn't have them unless a Dr prescribes them to you, that's what a physio told me. In the long run it'll just turn you in to someone really chubby, and you won't be able to get it off.

I'm not using weight gainer protein, I will go on the lowest carb/ calorie one available, I don't want to get fat really, and if I was injected with 2 stone of fat I reckon I could lose it in 2 months easily.

But if you're intent on it, just like losing weight, theres no secret formula to gaining it. Just add to your meal portions by 1/4 - 1/2, eat loads of red meat, eggs, pasta etc. Or just wait 7 years till you reach your last growth spurt and you will put on size naturally. For the last few years I've been building up over the winter, eating big portions then cutting whilst maintaining muscle mass over the spring ready for summer. My advice is just wait until your body develops naturally when you get to 20-21, I think with you being younger you try to get ahead of yourself. When your at that level, you'll have a better understanding of where your bofy is at and where you can build from.

At 29 i started gaining weight, but only when not performing any exercise. Prior to that i could pretty much eat/drink anything (and i did) without any weight gain. I still eat and drink whatever i want but with minimal exercise (once per week at present) i'm remaining stable.
Then again, i am what can only be described as a specimin of male physical perfection, only rivalled by the gods themselves, so no surprises there.
Also, for gaining weight you should be looking at 'mass gain' shakes and not protein. Although if you're a skinny 2lb 'gets sand kicked in his face' weakling then i would recommend a protein/mass gain combo, coupled with 3 or 4 gym workouts per week.
....and plenty of mayonaise.
