The Ashes starts on wednesday night and I cant wait, this is the best chance we will have to beat these down under.
The side will pick itself
1. Strauss 2. Cook 3. Trott 4. Pieterson 5. Collingwood 6. Bell 7. Prior 8. Broad 9. Swann 10. Anderson 11. Finn
Personaly, I would pick Tremlett instead of Finn as hes bowled well in the warm up game and Finn doesnt convince me
I reckon we will win the series 2-1

i canna wait too.
i dont think our team is miles better than the last one but it has more belief and isnt scarred by past tours
at the same time the aussies are on the wane, should be very good

As much as the Aussies will say it isn't the reason, they have definitely picked Doherty for KP and it is a big risk from the Aussies, in my opinion anyway. He's a fine bowler and no doubt his ability will able him to play many Tests and ODI's but right now he's very raw and the Aussies are really taking a gamble
I think we have a real chance for the first time in 20 odd years. Bell looks in great nick, and I reckon he'll be our leading scorer. Broad and Swann are most important bowlers for me, I think they'll both have a good series

2-1 Aussies, they'll rise to it.

Graham Swann is doing a 'video diary' during the series, done a few already 'entries' already and it's quite funny, worth a watch to see what it's like behind the scenes a bit more.
I reckon some of the important factors will be if Cook can get some runs going, and also if our bowlers can use the aussie ball well or not.

I've got us as favourites but not by a lot. I'm just hoping KP doesn't prove to be the weakest link.

I went to the tour match down here last week and we looked very impressive to say the least. The batsmen looked in good form and the second string bowling attack were very good indeed.
Although it appears that Doherty has been selected just to get at KP, I dont believe that is the case at all. He is a better bowler than Hauritz, and seeing him play quite often for Tassie I think he will take wickets, he has a comparable record to Hauritz but has not played as many games, and he gotten much better over the last two years.
Having said all of that though, i do think that we start as favourites and we should retain the ashes.

I think we have a better team than the Aussies but both our batsmen and bowlers concern me. A lack of tons and the ability to take 20 wickets is what worries me but I'm sure they'll be fine.

Another who conner wait for the action to start
Just hope Andersons first ball doesn"t make it to second slip ;D
Michael Clarke is rated 50-50 at the moment, and I agree with Sgt that Doherty is a useful bowler, but having toiled out in India for over on over, Hauritz must be pretty pissed off
Not many test matches are drawn these days and 2-2 is a very tasty bet at around 40-1
Prior"s batting at number 7 could be a vital position for me
Just watched the preview on SS and it seems that there is a lot of rain about at the moment in Oz - just hope if Strauss wins the toss he doesn"t do a Nasser
Roll on Wednesday night

Roll on Wednesday night Did you hear what Jimmy said when he got asked about the Harmison delivery? He said something along the lines of the only way his first delivery will end up at 2nd slip is if the batsmen edges it ;D Unlike Jimmy to be that cocky If Clarke doesn't play, I wonder whether the Aussies might risk playing Doherty and Smith, move North and Hussey up 1 place, move Haddin up to 6 and Smith at 7 ??? instead of making a straight swap and picking Khawaja.

A lack of tons and the ability to take 20 wickets is what worries me but I'm sure they'll be fine. you are joking No. We seem to have an inability for 2 of our batsmen to score a ton in the same innings. I don't rate Finn at all, Anderson is useless unless it swings, Broady is class as is Swann but we haven't got a fifth bowler and that worries me. KP and Colly especially can do a job but if we're struggling You need a bit more. We are better than the Aussies and that's a massive bonus.

I don't watch a lot of cricket admittedly just the ashes and 20/20, sometimes the odd ODI but from what I've seen on SSN when Australia have played tests against Sri Lanka and the like they've been poor, and England have looked better recently. I think we should win it!

It's the best chance to win in Australia for a long time imo,
For those doubting finn i can recall me feeling the same way about stuart broad and he's turned out great and had a great series in 2009, it will be tough but i'm confident we can do it this time,
Come on England!

I never doubted Broad, always liked him and always seen him as a bit of an all-rounder. I like the look of that Shazad as well but there is just something about Finn that I don't. His height and bounce should be useful in Oz though.

Cloud cover predicted for Brisbane this week, so the ball should swing, I would probably still bat first if we won the toss though.
