And last night some idiots were claiming that a wage cap on players wouldn't be a good idea. It's all part of the same problem...Human greed and extortion.
This wouldn't happen in Spain or Italy , because they simply wouldn't allow it...
The whole situation is a disgrace. ...and this FSF should take some form of action against it. God knows what that would be , but football cannot continue ignoring supporters.

If fans didn't turn up and pay they'd have to lower the prices.....so long as they're selling out prices will rise

Problem is, it is the laws of supply and demand. When they keep selling out week after week then they can hike the prices as much as they feel like until people stop going. Let's face it, they can put it up to £200 a week with half a ground and still make a lot of money.
The Europeans seem to take a different view, looking around some of the larger European sides they seem to start from around 18EUR upwards, FC Barcelona's cheapest seats are 28EUR for a standard game and rising to 45EUR for the top games (eg Real Madrid).
It is not just the top clubs that do this, however, if you saw the League Show last night they were discussing ticket prices and some of the prices that even Div 1 teams were asking was ridiculous.

As much as I love going, I'd just feel like I was being raped at anything above that. At £100 it wouldn't even cross my mind to attend.

fooking hell that is ridiculous. i know a lot of people earn stupid money "darn serf" but even still this is just unjustifiable. if you had the same prices in the midlands and north of england based on the national minimum wage if you had to pay those prices up here you would have to work half a week for 90 minutes entertainment. i would expect a signed top, free signed programme a tour around the ground and a buffet lunch for that price at the brit.

And last night some idiots were claiming that a wage cap on players wouldn't be a good idea. People are idiots who argue that it is a simplistic notion to believe that a salary cap would convert to lower match ticket prices? If that was coming from anyone else it would be rather rude but as it is the thoughts of a one dimensional plastic scouser, I'll let it go. ;D

Mumf, as a matter of fact, FSF have been debating it, this very afternoon, at a divisional meeting. It arises out of the present court case, re the Portsmouth publican and foreign satellite channels.
If she wins the case (showing live games t 3.00., via Greece or wherever,) Sky will lose out and clubs will therefore get much less cash. Moreover, it's presently, the overseas TV income that is the prt of the Sky deal which is escalating most.
Well, that's fine by me, as the vast majority of it goes to the players. Let them live on less, much less, once contracts are up.

Malcolm's assertion that: Is pretty naive imo, it's not ridiculous at all, if people weren't (clearly) prepared to pay that much to go, then Aresnal wouldn't charge that amount to get in. It's not rocket science.

that is insane. My friend who lives in Dortmund who let me borrow one of his two season tickets to Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga told me that each of those tickets cost 187 Euro total for the season. Granted, this is in their huge standing terrace the sudtribune. That said, it is crazy to think 100 pounds for one match.

It's all about supply and demand..and as long as theirs a demand for £100 tickets..Arsenal will sell them Premiership Football is highly fashionable right now..and chocka full of Nick Hornby types especially in the Capital...they know as much about football as Wenger does about fair play Mark my words though..the bubble will burst...just like the stockmarket did 10 years ago..and just like the housing market did a few years ago..then we'll be back to the old days but with 50% fewer clubs

I think that Arsenal being able to charge £100 quid for tickets has a lot to do with it being a tourist attraction. I once met an Australian couple in Bruges - they were doing a European trip and a visit to the Emirates was on the list.
One advantage of being a "less fashionable" club is that we tend not to get charged silly money for away games - I think we paid £33 for the Emirates last season. Man Citeh fans were complaining that since they hit the big time they're getting fleeced for away games - the £100 quid tickets are against them.

What are they going to do, put up a tent in Soho Square directing angry fans the way to the protest? The FA, The Prem League and the Clubs have no care at all for their supporters. Their actions prove the point time and time again. Until football supporters en mass stop buying tickets, merchandise and TV subscriptions things like this will never end.

Dear mumfy, You are not in any position to call other posters thick, my friend. I can't help it if you cannot even understand other people's arguments but I can help you referring to the people who make them as idiots on the basis they don't fit with your shallow thought process. You don't have to agree and you are welcome to come back with a rational argument why you don't agree. Unfortunately that has never been within your scope and abuse is your standard response. You have no idea what posts i delete or otherwise. in your casre I generally inform you and explain why. Its usually for the reason stated above.

I would pay upwards of £250 to watch Arsene Wenger having another strop (like Saturdays) on 20th December.
Seriously though, anything over £30 is ridiculous. It just can't be justfied.
Mind you, when you look at the supporters at places like Arsenal, can we honestly say that they're real football fans? We talk about the prawn sandwich brigrade at Old Trafford but these lot at the emirates really do take the piss.
