Bad day at the office today but I think the performance of Pearson was a bonus. Was I the only one to be surprised by his pace? Whenever I'd seen him on TV he played as a holding midfielder and I never suspected he had the pace that he showed us on the wing today. Our man of the match by a country mile in my opinion and a belting ball in from the wing for Cressy to score.
Strange that before the game it was Ameobi I was excited about but Pearson's performance really caught the eye.
I presume (hope) he was only subbed because TP didn't want to take too many risks with the groin injury he was carrying.

Pearson was awesome in the first half, less so good in the 2nd, but overall a very, very good debut, John you weren't the only one surprised by his pace.
As for Shola, he seemed to be a cross between Mama and Gifton!! I am sure he may grab a couple of goals, in these next 5 games, and him with Fuller could be exciting! The defenders swarmed around Shola today, they can't swarm over both him and Fuller, so one of them is going to get a little bit more time!

Sounds positive for both Shola & Pearson. Stephen was taken off cus he aint trained since Derby's last game and today. (Pulled out of Scotland squad too, so no training there too)

Ditto.
Pearson played really well first half but like Rob says, ran out of steam in the second.
Bearing in mind he hadn't trained for 2 weeks that was a fantastic debut!
There is more to come from Shola I'm sure

Commented on exactly the same thing during the game. Shola was obviously giving them problems (although according to the local Sheff radio, their full backs 'had him in their pockets, pisser) but at times he was on his own because Cresswell just went missing.
Shola and Fuller should cause some real beef I reckon.

he was brilliant today and is pretty quick! was speaking to a few Derby fans on the train before the match and they were saying he was one of their better lads.. does anyone know why they got rid of him?

My mate is a Derby fan. He says that his best position is in the centre of midfield but Derby have played him on the left of midfield. He is very fast, strong and a quality player. There is always a however. He was a Billy davis signing (Politics) but goes out with Kenny Miller on a Friday night and gets Wankered. I believe that to be true but how many other Stoke players do this apart from The Beast! I hope this does not affect his performance.

His performance has filled me with hope. He's exactly what we needed. Fuller in for Cresser and I really believe our top 6 are capable of winning the last 5 for us. They've got over a week to prepare for palace which can only help the new two as well. More confident than I have been all season given that Cresser will surely drop to the bench for a spell.

Yes, I will happily jump on this bandwagon!! Pearson looked really good - if we'd had him in January we would probably be already promoted from what I saw Ameobi looked good in the first half but I think a mixture of the conditions, referee taking away his edge and lack of first team games caught up with him. Am fully expecting all 3 points against palarse

The key to the season is whether Pearson can keep up that level of performance and whether Fuller and Ameobi can "click" from their first match together. If they can then we have a good chance of auto promotion.
We could improve our chances by playing Wilko at right back, in my opionion. Griff just isn't doing it in that position. At the very least he should be switched to left back. Although I'd prefer to see Dicko there as he had a good game despite the rush of blood to the head and with a clever player (Pearson) in front of him Dicko might improve his passing game.

strange that Griff seems more at home at leftback than at rightback, isn't it ?

Griff's better performances at left back rather than right back mystify me. Not only does he seem more comfortable defending on his "wrong" side but he seems more willing to attack on the left side - and his crossing doesn't seem to suffer either. I am confused!
I'd still play Wilko and Dicko as the full backs though. Griff looks as if he needs a rest, whatever side of the pitch he plays on.

I really think that Griffin and Pearson on the left would be a superb match! Please read this Pulis, you know it makes sense!!!!

Pearson did look a good player yesterday. Made a difference when he went off.
As for Griffin, the reserves is where he should be playing.

The performances of Pearson and Ameobi excited me . Pearson look's the player we've missed all season and Ameobi look's a real quality centre forward .
Motm for me though was good old Rory Delap !
