Why is Pulis getting himself involved in all this political shit? We have no players involved in the England squad so what does he care whether or not they get paid? He's always been a little shy of the camera's but of late it seems we are getting a mention on stuff that dunna concern us.

He wasn't just talking about England. What he said applies to ALL National teams and players.

He was backing up Woy Hodgson wasn't he ?
I reckon TP is pissed off because Liverpool have lost Gerrard for a month and typical of our luck he plays against us then is out for the next few games against the likes of West Ham at the weekend.
I think it's a crazy idea to expect national sides to pay for players who get hurt on international duty. The clubs should be doing more to help the national side not less.
Anyway can you imagine the legal disputes which would kick-off ? Was the player hurt playing for England or did he aggravate an existing injury etc. Field day for the lawers. Stupid, stupid idea and indicative of the fact that national pride went out of the window years ago.

Didn't the FA pay a hefty chunk in wage compensation when Owen last damaged his knee ligaments on England Duty?

Didn't the FA pay a hefty chunk in wage compensation when Owen last damaged his knee ligaments on England Duty? I'm pretty sure they did. I'd imagine they're insured for this kind of thing. Ediit - looks like the FA is having to cough up for Gerrard. www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/nov/19/steven-gerrard-injury-england-compensation"The FA is one of the few football federations to take out high-level insurance for its international players and, as Gerrard was clearly injured on international duty, its insurers will have to reimburse Liverpool for his £120,000-a-week wages for the amount of time he is sidelined. Newcastle United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, among others, have been reimbursed for injuries sustained by Michael Owen, Theo Walcott and Jermain Defoe on England duty. The compensation does not come out of FA funds."

I love it, "the compensation does not come out of FA funds" and "The FA is one of the few football federations to take out high-level insurance for its international players". For "high-level" read "high-cost" and who pays for the insurance, the tooth fairy ?

Going back to the original post, I agree with CP, our Tone is beginning to be seen and heard a little more often than suits him or us, tbh.
Let's leave the limelight to the 'Arrys of this world and quietly go on about our business without these media distractions...

Agree also. I much prefered it when we flew under the media radar and Tony didn't attract attention. I remember how much I hated Phil Brown because he was on the TV all the time.
