What with Pennant on one wing and Ethers on the other is it time to widen the pitch in the close season to give them a bit more room?

It's a good idea. I'm not sure if Tone would stretch "The Cage" though. . .

Unless we plan to start utilizing 'overlapping' full backs (which we won't and I don't want us to anyway). I don't really see the point.
Ehterington and Pennant are both as much about beating a man as they are about pace.

I think as long as the terrible twosome are having this much joy as it is the markings won't change. Especially as our full backs aren't exactly the mobile overlapping types.

i was thinking about this the other day.
while it sounds like it should work with matty and JP
but as it's working at the moment, and they must train on this size of pitch, then no i don't think so.

Our full backs give the opposing wingers too much space as it is.
Our pitch doesn't seem to be causing Matty and JP massive problems does it?

they play better at home

No. The reason we have shortened our pitch is so that we are not stretched by teams at home, and so that we can aqueeze them.
Also because of rory's throws

I don't think it effects them, Pennant in particular likes to cut inside a lot anyway.

I think you have to submit the pitch dimensions to the Premier League at the beginning of the season and then you're stuck withem until the end of the season.

I think we should narrow it IMHO. The side line should be level with the side of the penalty box and we are likely to win a penalty that way.
But only in the half we are attacking - we can flip reverse it at half time. If the Blazin Squad can, we can.

Within the rules of the game we can have the pitch the size we want, wouldnt go amiss to change it occasionally to suit our play against some opposition, only problem is players get used to a width of pitch, especially wingers

The small pitch is to our advantage. Widening the pitch would only help the bigger teams.
So for me, no we should not.

the pitch isn't that much narrower than most other clubs anyway

No - having a smaller pitch means we can press more, with the opposing team having less space to pass/clear the ball into (ala Liverpool)

Pitch dimensions are submitted at the start of the year and you have to stick to that all season. It's hardly fair is it, changing it on a game by game basis?

Prem league rules stae the max and minimum dimesions - as long as they are within these dimesions you can change them at any time as longa s you notify them........anyhow we shouldn't it works to our advantage!!

didn't we change it a few years back half way through the season, for a cup match perhaps? Admittedly it may not have been in the prem.
Either way, I wouldn't change it. We play a high intensity game, and out of possession we squeeze and pressure the opposition quickly. This is much easier on a smaller pitch.

You can not change the dimensions during the season.
