TP should really be pushing for a permanently!!! A second loan deal still leaves the door open for somebody else to jump in!

We have been confident of signing people before. Very much hope it happens. Maybe the carrot dangling is deliberate.

If the story is true ... then I wonder who doesn't want to pull the trigger and make it permanent now, us or JP?

Thats a good question Paul, im not sure if pre contracts agreements are in place for loan signings. Liam Lawrence is on loan, but will make his deal permenant in January also. But I don't think I have read anywhere about Lawrence having a cast iron pre contract agreement in place? (I may be wrong as usual ) If thats the case, then we will have to wait until January comes and get the transfer sorter asap.

I should imagine that is why TP is keen to sign him up, however I think the compromise is to extend the loan to season's end and then I think he'll leave unfortunately. At least that gives us his services for the season and then the Summer window to find a replacement, it also gives JP extra time in the shop window to get a really good deal somewhere

If the story is true ... then I wonder who doesn't want to pull the trigger and make it permanent now, us or JP? Maybe it's a case of us not wanting to make the outlay of a transfer fee in Jan. (I'm assuming he has more than 7/8 months on his contract at Zaragoza there). Loan him till the end of the season, pay up for him in the summer when the cashflow for every football club picks up a bit with season ticket sales, league bonus' etc. The only issue is as has been mentioned, he might just put himself in the shop window, but it appears the player is happy here so I don't see a problem.

He's been ok and we look a lot better balanced. But he hasn't quite lived up to the hype about him in my opinion. Still think we should get him but I'm hoping for more to come.

Still think he's undoubtedly a quality player and much better option than playing Delap or Walters out right but I can't see why Serie A clubs are courting him on the back of his performances in a Stoke shirt. Now if they were looking to sign Matty Etherington...

Personally I would be happy if we signed him although I think he has work to do on some of his crosses. He is a worker and seems passionate about playing for Stoke.

He should be the first signing in January IMO....still young and I think we can get the very best out of him once settled.

Pennant has certainly turned his career around and quite possibly see's Stoke as his best salvation in a similar way to how Matty was helped.
Only slight worry is his seeming inability to last the full 90 minutes but maybe a few more weeks of Trentham hills running will solve this fitness issue.

I hope he realises that this is the best move for him. He's already loved here by many, and seems to be fitting in well with the group.

In the post-match interview with him on the Stoke site he seems very happy to stay at Stoke. Hope we do manage to keep hold of him.

That's four consecutive stories all with different suggestions as to what will happen to Pennant in January in four days so far this week ... I wonder what it'll be tomorrow?
