Basically saying that he wouldn't have stayed 5 minutes at stoke if TP sent the lads out to knock the shit out of the other team. Also says that pulis ripped into wilko big time straight after the final whistle against fulham. He's spot on when he says 'it's a smokescreen for teams getting beat' in regard to all this whinging from the likes of murphy.

Gerry's been a top guy at Stoke and I have to say has gone up loads in my estimation since he came here.
Murphy makes me laugh and if Hughes has any conscience he will feel a bit stupid as his Blackburn side were hardly a bunch of fairies.

Wasnt the 'horror' tackle people are making out it is......Scholes and gerrard do tackles like that every other week! Correct, there were two tackles as bad if not worse by Blackburn players the other week with barely a murmer made once sunday had passed. Bloody witch hunt if you ask me.

The only reason people have paid more attention to that tackle by Wilko than many other equivalent bad tackles (e.g. Givet and Nzonzi on us, Beckford on Harper, even Chamakh on Carson) is Mark Hughes' reaction.
And why did he react like that? Because he wanted to deflect attention from himself for his first defeat at Fulham - so Gerry Francis is spot on about the whinging being a smokescreen.

Gezza seemed to be on the brink of unleashing the fucking fury at Murphy there - he seemed proper pissed off about it.

Nice one Gerry. Pity the reality side to this debate does not get the same air time as the negative lies.
I cannot wait to welcome Mr Murphy to the Brit Tuesday 28th December 2010.

Murphy was entitled to be upset..
Fulham had lost two of their top players to very bad tackles
In Wilco's case the tackle was bad on three counts;
We were in the last few seconds of the game and it was totally unnecessary The tackle was premeditated - we could see from the other of the ground that it was going to be late The tackle was almost certainly retribution - Wilco had squared up to the player minutes earlier and this was Wilco's brainless way of getting his own back
Gerry has confirmed Pulis's thoughts on the tackle - he could see how bad it was and obviously told Wilco what he thought
Where Murphy was seriously wrong was linking Wilco's bad tackle to Stoke physical approach - there is no connection
As for Wolves I reckon Murphy has a point - they have been serial offenders this season. Wilco's tackle allowed him to tar us with the same brush

The whole point of the reaction to Murphy's comments has been to do with the hypocrisy of it all. One of the dirtiest players in Premiership history with his present manager who has been quoted as deliberately winding players up to go out and "fight" deciding that there are three teams who don't deserve to be in the Prem for no other reason at all apart from they don't like them.
Unfortunately the papers only want to take their side of the argument as it sells more copies than having to admit that actually teams like Stoke aren't dirty and can play football

[Look mate, which ever way you cut the cheese it was at best a rash challenge. Given the circumstances that the club is held, it was the most stupidist thing one of our players could do. Not sure how many brain cells the bloke has but I'm guessing between zero and one.

As for Wolves I reckon Murphy has a point - they have been serial offenders this season. I was actually starting to believe this about Wolves myself, the way Kenwyne Jones was scissor tackled early on in the game, the way they targetted Barton against Newcastle and the Zamora leg break are 3 incidents in the 3 Wolves games I've seen this season... could just be me being paranoid but I wouldn't be surprised if they've targeted the danger-man in all of their games.
