A Texas court has granted a temporary restraining order stopping the sale of Liverpool Football Club, owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett have claimed.
It comes hours after the American pair saw their challenge against the club's sale thrown out by the High Court.

I don't know how a Texas court can suspend the sale of Liverpool - I guess it depends on where and how the ownership will be transferred - anyone know anything about how the ownership of LFC is structured?

I hope they get sued and the sale falls through and Broughton is left in charge of a broke club that is going down that's what they deserve for the way they've treated the owners

I don't think they can stop it, but those involved in the sale won't want to be seen to be going against this ruling without making efforts to overturn it. RBS definitely won't want to overtly go against the ruling of a court in a country where they have a lot of business. Does this thing seem like a stitch up to anyone else. Why does it seem as though this NESV sale is being pushed through when apparently there are better offers on the table? Massive backhanders are being exchanged somewhere I reckon.

regardless to all these court cases and injunctions going on football's governing body needs to take a stand on this sort of thing.
How a club so badly run get into that much debt without the FA, UEFA or FIFA getting involved before now is unreal. Just cause there a so called big club and a global brand shouldnt mean they can borrow way more then they've got or can afford to pay back.
There got to be a rule thats brought in that NOW that stops all this, its a joke.
And the daft thing is even if this sale doesnt go through theres no way the RBS are going call the debt in so Liverpool will be able rack even more up and we'll have this episode all over again in 12 months time.

High Court have just ruled that the Texas injunction carries no weight in the UK.
I wonder what the Yanks will do next?

I can understand a wealthy local businessman putting money into his home town club, either because he supports that club or because he wishes to bequeath some of his wealth to the benefit of the local community.
And I can sort of understand somone from overseas, with more money than sense, pumping a fortune into a club that he might have had an eye on having seen them on the telly a few times.
What I can't stand is the likes of Hicks and Gilette, who bought into our beautiful game with no intention of doing anything else other than making a profit out of it. I hope they lose their fucking shirts (and thats the first time I have ever blasphemed on this website).
Man U, take a look at what's been cooking up the East Lancs Road. You could be next.

I'm confuesd by all this talk but my take on it is that Liverpool will be sold to the Red Sox owner for 300m, He will take on there massive debt however wont pay off what they owe but will simply pay the interest on the loan. They will then proceed to pay 40m on new players whilt the debt still remains. Anyone know if this is near the mark who understands whats going on.

I agree I really sypathise for teams like Dundee who have a far smaller debt however have had to sack all there staff. It stinks of double standards. I've never liked Liverpool since I was a kid and had to put up with all the gloryhunters of the early 80's. My hatred had softened however the likes of Stevie "I can do what I like and get away with it" Gerrard and the recent abuse of the system re transfers and there debt had put them right up there again. I can't believe I prefer Man U to them now.

Yes, the new owners are paying off the debt. If they hadn't agreed to do so the Royal Bank of Scotland would have put the club into administration yesterday.
