You can't compare it like that because there are a lot of towns around Burnley like Baccup, Colne etc that draw fans.
Stoke town itself isn't that big.

Burnley has Baccup, Colne, Nelson, some place beginning with P that I can't remember. There support is drawn from a number of towns.
Stoke suffer a little from being a 2 club city (yes I do mean Fail) but though Stoke on Trent population is 250,000 ish, Newcastle and various other places make the catchment area population quite sizeable.

Haven't we got around 8,000 id card holders at present? Apart from a death in the family,(even then I'd still go) I couldn't understand any Stokie not wanting to go today! It's huge and if you can't be arsed to turn up at games like these, when would you? Oh, I forgot, Man utd at home of course.
