I'm still undecided but maybe you make a fair point.
Could be that Coates had a major influence in bringing him to the club, his comments if true could possibly tie in with the stories of Coates warning George Burley not to take over? Strange either way

Who cares it's water under the bridge to be honest, yeah he is an arrogant bloke, but he took the managers job at Stoke, discovered how abysmal the Icelandic board was and headed on the first train out....Won't be the first time a footballer or manager does it.

Sorry but the truth is -
1. He aint a bad coach
and 2. Stoke were a shambles when he was here and a good many would have jumped at the opportunity to move to a better run club.
...but then again its easier to go with a bit of mindless abuse and ignore what was really going on at the time.
