At the end of the game when asked about playing poorly first half stated that we did not do any of the things that had been agreed prior to the start.
So all you moaners about team selection out there, it doesn't matter what team you put out if they don't do what the manager asks.

You look at that selection, and try and tell me something other than Pulis was trying to kill that game for 70 minutes and then bring Ric on, without sounding like a total pratt. Cheers. Pulis probably told Huth not to forearm smash someone in the penatly area when no one was around maybe? Great win, but come on people, we can't excuse that starting 11.

Just a few players before kick-off in the selection put me on a downer... But we won! Thats what matters.

Hang on a second, he dropped Delap and played Wilkinson which everybody has asked for, Wilkinson was a pile of Cack and we only looked threatening once Delap came on.
Don't tell me that the amateur football managers on here can pick a better side than Tony!

You expect him to say anything else ?.
The team selection was clearly the reason why is was such a dull first half, we came to life after the subs came on, we looked more like a functioning team after the changes were made, and it didn't make us more vulnerable at the back either.

No posibiilty the team didnt do its planned job and hemce we looked worse than normal in an away game? A bit of humility wouldnt go a miss here - events and after match comments show TP had the situation far more in hand than anyone gave him credit for. Yet again shows he does know a bit more than everyone giving it what for on this board.

we only looked threatening once Delap came on. So then you agree that the starting XI was wrong. What point are you trying to make?

It's planned job was not to concede, so they failed. But I would argue that a team set out like that will enable the opposition to score more easily due to the pressure we put on ourselves.
We need to be pro-active and not re-active.

With Jones in the team it seems like we have to play Rory, but he must always play in the middle!

We have to accept that when we play away we are bound to play a more containing style to take the heat out of the home advantage and quiet the fans, would have worked too if our German friend hadn't got all excited.
Mind you it was worth it to see Big shot Carroll on his arse, thought it might have been Shawcross that clattered him.
Wouldn't swop him for Jonesy, no chance!

But penalties happen and make plans like today very falable. I'm not saying we should go all out attack and realise that, that would be piss poor. But we don't have to go all the way in the opposite direction. As ever, the middle ground is needed.
