I think the fairest result would have been if both teams had lost.

I listened to the pundits on Asian TV (the same as SKY UK I think) and I was disappointed with their understanding of how Stoke play. They continually referrred to how Newcastle dominated the first half but failed to identify any clear cut chances. I was pissed off with how TP set us up and we had no attacking threat whatsoever. However, we were categorically not "mullered" by Newcastle in the first half. It took a typical "daft" challenge by Huth (as others have said a "walking penalty") for them to score. I hate winning games the hard way 1-2 when with a bit of bollocks from the man in charge we could win it comfortably. We are a better side than Newcastle and we shouldn't have to endure this negative shit!

As long as we keep winning most people will be happy. The problems start when we set up like we did yesterday and end up losing. People can accept an entertaining loss. They are much less sympathetic to a defeat when our intentionhas been to stop/stifle the opposition for 60mins+ and where we offer no creativity ourselves.

There's been a lot of focus on that shots on target stat. I'm staggered Newcastle were credited with three, where did they come from? I only counted one. Meanwhile we got one shot on target, hit the woodwork twice and arguably deserved a penalty.
Possession stats aside (meaningless unless you convert them into chances) we DID deserve the win. Not a good performance, but good enough to beat the team on the day.
So why all this wailing and gnashing of teeth?

There may be those who say an own goal gifted us 3 points but that own goal was a direct result of Stoke sticking the ball in the danger area time and time again. Had Perch not got his head to it, Huth was waiting to pounce. And let's not forget which team hit the woodwork, more than once!
....We were absolute garbage in the first half though!
