I'm technically a rimmer in these parts, but i agree.
Ameobi, in my opinion, is not the answer.
Let's hope it's Kamara instead!

Roeder has worked with him for a couple of years and he rates him as a goalscorer.
“But I like him a lot. He would be an unbelievable goal scorer in the Championship.”
“But I just opened my hands there - I think he's a fantastic player, certainly rated much more highly by me than lots of other people who tend to like headless chickens running round the place who don't score.
“He scores goals.”
And, to be fair, he has less than 100 actual starts for Newcastle and has nearly 30 goals.
And 7 in 20 games for England U-21s

I remember people villifying him for signing Akinbiyi, who in the end, while not the hero some painted us as, did a good job for us overall.
He's looking for a target man who offers more threat than Mama. Ameobi is perfect for that.

Personally speaking I think Ameobi would be a sensational signing for any Championship side.
I'd love Kamara as well but he's consistently struggled in the Prem, whereas Shola has at least enjoyed some success and scored some goals.
Kamara is a better Fuller and Ameobi is a better Mama (albeit he's not a carbon copy of him) so we'll be strengthening the side one way or another.

Ameobi seems to fluctuate between the outrageously good and the outrageously bad in the blink of an eyelid. He's definitely got something and he'd be a handful, just like Mama . I'm very heartened by Roeder's quotes. I'm more concerned about potentially being fenced into paying £2m for Pearson, to be honest (although he could possibly sort out the left-sided position for the last 5-6 games?) But we'll worry about that when we're promoted!

I'm worried to death by that £2m figure for Pearson as well but my gut feeling is that he'd go for a lot less.
I can't quite see the point of us signing him really because I don't rate him as highly as Whelan and he's certainly not what you'd call a holding midfielder. He is left footed so maybe TP sees him playing wide left but he's not the type to excite their either so who knows.
I suppose we shouldn't moan about the possibility of another ball-playing midfielder coming in but it's just where he plays.

On the plus side - if he comes then he's a definite upgrade on Jon Parkin and that in itself is to be welcomed!

Ameobi is a goalscorer . Not in a michael owen mould but he does wade in with a few . He's just not good enough for Newcastle's first team but in the championship he'd be sensational !
Go get him TP !

No it doesn't - people cried like little girls when we signed him, he then went and scored some crucial goals for us (and I'm not his biggest fan).
If Ameobi does the same we'll be laughing won't we?

get a better Fuller in (Kamara) and a better Mama in (Shola)
If he does that - we can't ask for more now.
"Now" ? because 5.00 pm is rapidly approaching & both have a Premiership "?" mark over them but for now "Yes fookin please"
Not so arrised about Pearson though tbh - and deffo not at that cash.
(Cue the Pearson goal that gets us auot of course ;D)

Ameobi is a far better striker than the following players:
Cresswell Sidibe Gallagher Bothroyd Parkin Rooney
We also have Fuller, who while a genius at this level, scored hardly any goals at all when he had his stint in the Prem.
If fit, Ameobi will be just the ticket. My concern is his lack of games.

I think Ameobi would be a great signing, but (Tin Hat on) I'm not sure about Kamara. When Fuller's on his game he is fabulous:pace, strength, tricks and can score inside or outside the box, on a break and makes goals. I actually think Ricardo Fuller is underated! He's like Henry with the strength of John Barnes!!
I'm also quite interested to see more of Jay Bothroyd. Just wonder if he could be another inspired signing. Considering he has'nt played much, and is still getting to grips with our system and style, I thought he was pretty good against Blackpool. He looked lively, chasing, lots of pace, one decent shot.
Still concerned about making too many changes and expecting everything to gel immediately.
