I know this has been mentioned on the EG thread but probably deserves a thread of its own www.stokecityfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10310~2162144,00.html ACADEMY starlet Ryan Brunt inspired Stoke City to a comfortable 4-1 victory against Walsall on Tuesday afternoon at the Clayton Wood Training Ground… with a clinically taken hat-trick.

Did we have to pay a fee to get Brunt from Bristol City?

Hope a few Championship scouts were there, so we can get a few of those who can't make the first team matchday 18 off the wage bill, at least partly, until January. I'm thinking Davies, Shotton, Soares, Tonge, and maybe Matty Lund a division lower?
Brunt sounds a good prospect.

If the picture is supposed to be Ryan on the official site they have managed to mix him up with Alex Hedley!

I saw that Mark XD. Was thinking of texting the lads to let them know but thought there must be a reason for Al being on there

On another note a roup of the lads were walking up from the bridge last night, I was walking towards the bridge to meet a mate and the lad at the front said hi mate and then a few more followed. As they caught me off guard, and also shocked me that they recognised me, I just stared for a few seconds before tamely replying owrate. Bet they thought I was an ignorant git

why was tonge playing a free role? this is what i dont get, because other teams, their whole structure of how they play filtures down even to youth academy, so when they eventually step up to the 1st team they know their roles. as it is stoke city would never employ a free role for a midfielder in first team football so why do it in the reserves? pointless!

I have to agree. I've only saw the academy twice last season and both times they played a 4-2-3-1/4-5-1 system. Which might have suited the players at that level but it's not the system that Pulis will want them for.

Whenever I have seen Tonge, he just plays where he wants and ignores the instructions given to him before the game
