Id rather have a 25% fit Gudjohnsen than Tuncay You are in luck mate , 'cause that appears to be what we have based on yesterday.

If he didn't drive home last week then maybe, just maybe he would have been look at in a better light.
He has publically shown on MANY occasions that he only cares about Tuncay and not the team. So how will playing him, improve the team????

1. The manager is paid to pick the team and knows every player, as he works with them every day. Perhaps Tuncay has told him to fuck off in training, or knobbed his missus. Or perhaps he has looked shit in training. Fact is nobody knows except the training staff and of course Pulis.
2. Tuncay has featured in 37 games for Stoke City (almost half of those being starts) - how many memorable games has he had? I can remember more misses / frustrating games than I can games where he was this 'world class, game-changing player' that some claim him to be. He's probably has 3 or 4 games where he has made a difference... if someone can list more than that i'd like to see it.
3. He is paid more in a week than most earn in a year, for doing a job he loves - and we are offering him an apology for not being picked??
4. Has Mr. Sanli offered the club, or fans, an apology for the times that he has shown disrespect towards his employers and (more importantly for me) team-mates for stropping off down the tunnel when subbed?
Tuncay gets no apology from me whatsoever, this is football and Pulis does what he believes is is best for the club. If that means paying a lot of money for a player, but then not picking him, then so be it. Yes he may have made a difference yesterday - but by the same token he may have also been wank. Truth is nobody knows.
Should we offer an apology to Danny Pugh? Model professional, earns far less than Tuncay, rarely in the squad, never lets the team down when picked.
No, we probably shouldn't.

Danny Pugh is generally kept out of the team by players who are a little better at football than him, who are also fit. Tuncay was kept out of the squad yesterday by Jon Walters and a clearly unfit Eidur Gudjohnson.

Again, we don't know the full story and this isn't Footbal Manager 2010.... Pulis and his staff see Tuncay every day, there is obviously a reason why he is not picked, and that reason isn't made public.

Personally I see him at left or centre midfield. Then a gain you could be right, Pugh( like 2 or 3 others) could probably do a better job at LB than Collins.

As soon as he apologises to me for running off down the tunnel 3 times i'll consider doing the same. After considering it i wouldn't do it anyway as i've got no time for players who think they have a divine right to play over others who are putting in just as much effort.

All personal opinions of course, but Pugh doesn't have the overall skill to play CM or the pace to play wide, so I see his best position as LB. There are some on here who would prefer Whitehead at RB than Huth (based on one game last season). That's the beauty of forums, nobody is right or wrong, it's all about opinion. I personally don't rate Tuncay as i've seen nothing to prove that - long term - he is right for us. I would love him to be a regular but for me he's too inconsistent - this was the same at Middlesbrough so I see no reason why he would be any different for us. I agree that like for like, and just based on fitness, Tuncay would deserve a place ahead of EG, but there are probably other factors involved, and not just Pulis' stubborness.

Well I think TP has treated Tuncay appallingly!! When he's on the pitch he gives his all, he plays his heart and soul out .But all TP seems to have done is humiliate him at every opportunity. I feel very disappointed in TP's behavior...He should grow up and a course in man management wouldn't go amiss!!

from most stoke city fans at your treatment.the fact you werent even put on the bench before an overweight icelandic here for the money player, and a clearly out of his class championship player [walters] is beyond me. tony pulis you must put aside personnal differences and give THE TEAM every chance of winning. when tuncay comes on he works hard, too hard sometimes, but he makes things happen. i fear gudjohnsen will be a huge waste of cash BAMG ON THE MONEY!! Eidur touched the ball about 3 times in the whole time he was on, just hope we dont have a bad egg there!

Bugger me, when I opened this thread I thought that he may have apologised for this, not that somebody was apologising to him on my behalf. Sorry Tunnie, for supporting the team that pays your wages in order that you will do what the manager asks you to do.

i think tuncay should start in midfield ahead of delap. we would be much better going forward! Of course we would but we'd be much worse going backwards. What the overall 'nett result' would be is open to debate but you could say we'd be better going forwards playing Tuncay at full back. I don't think too many people would support that idea though.

Another question. How does EG get fully match fit and back up to speed with the English game without getting pitch time?

many are missing the point here.
It's not whether Tuncay is better than Eodur. It's that BOTH are better than Walters, and always will be.
Although, tink back a few years, and some Stoke fams worshipped Andy Cooke for some strange reason. Just how has Walters managed to get so much game time for us ahead of Ricardo and Tuncay?
That's the head scratcher.

Apologies to Tuncay? What a load of bollocks. Apologies from Tuncay for the £35/£40k per week from SCFC? Apologies for the disrespectful walks down the tunnel? Apologies to his "team" mates not staying to watch when sub'd or not picked? Apologies for running around aimlessly "most" times and not playing for the "team"? Missing sitters? Let's see when he gets a game with the other fringe players on Tuesday against Fulham. He needs to make a worthwhile contribution during the whole match instead of chasing shadows. Apologies - unbelievable. If you do not believe in what TP sees then perhaps you would prefer us back in Division 2 playing Port Vale/Stockport etc i read this board everyday.. this is what makes it shit.

I'm glad we have some reasonable Oaties on here scfc75 & beardy. We only want what is best for the team and whether you like him or not TP picks the team. Yes we all have our opinions - Mama, Delap, Whitehead might not be anywhere near a lot of team's. I'm not saying Tuncay is crap but I do get sick of these people praising him so highly especially after his antics last season. He's yet to have the opportunity to do the same this year but I'm afraid if he's not doing the business on Tuesday and gets sub'd - what's the betting on a tantrum. My final word on this as I have better things to do is.....how many clubs came for him in the summer???

Eidur is obviously a class player, but it will be very interesting to see how he goes on as far as being "TP fit" is concerned because he looks a good stone overweight to me? In other words, if he gets to start games regularly in these first few months, then Tuncay hardly getting a look in till Christmas last season because he wasn't "TP fit" was bollocks.

I like Tuncay but to be fair, there's no point discussing him because he's never going to get a run in the side. I don't even consider him an option anymore.

Personally i don't give a fuck if he doesn't watch from the stands! Why the hell should anyone care if he watches or not? He's paid to be on the pitch, if he's not picked for the damn squad then he can do what he wants for all i care.
Him walking down the tunnel was last season, give it a rest!
It's not his fault the manager has some kind of issue with him. He would be in most premierleague teams matchday 18. He has missed a few sitters but it's a joke how he's been treated at Stoke.

Ther's some fucking shite spoken on here on this subject and if you dont agree with the other persons opinion then you must be a thick unknowledgeable twat(paraphrasing a wee bit)
just to pin my colours to the mast I personally would like to see him playing/in the squad because I think he would add more to us going forward, I dont think he has had a fair crack of the the whip/extended run compared to the likes of Mama or Rory, and I agree with the poster who said earlier he could score a hattrick against Fulham and not be given a start (unless we are in dire straits with injuries).
As for the people who disagree no problem, I dont feel the need to get all het up and defensive.

All I know is that everyone sitting near me, including a Stoke scout , couldn't belive Tuncay had been left out, in favour of a player who could scarcely run. Gudjonsen is so unfit it's obvious he is nowhere near being able to play a game. All this nonsense about he needs to play to get fit , is crap he needs to train to get fit, playing he is just a waste of space at the moment.
