As I was away at Uni I only got to two games that season - and saw us beat Manure and the Arse! I don't know what all the fuss is about Seriously, hearing the scores come in every week was very very depressing...

Easter Monday, Luton spanked us 4 nil. I begged my Dad to take me. He'd taken me to Old Trafford two days before when Utd put five past us. Two games, nine goals against. Must have cost him a few quid too.

Fucking dreadful season that was.
I used to go and stand in the boothen waiting for the opposition to score their first goal every home game.
I only saw us beat Sheffield Wednesday that year but you could ask where did it all go wrong? For the first 6 or 7 games we were at least competitive. Did the confidence just collapse or did the players just give up after one or two poor results?
Saw the Spurs game with Siddles howler. What an absolute shower of shit.

I got to the point in about March/April when i was actually looking forward to the second division, because at least we wouldnt lose every game then.
We finally got relegated when we lost 2-0 to Everton on April 20th. For some reason in the Boothen we booed every time Everton had the ball and cheered every time stoke had the ball for a section of that game.
Our last home game was on a Friday night but i cant remember who we played.

1 other game sticks out for me..last away game..West Ham midweek, naturally we lost 5-1
West Ham was as iffy as they come back then...but the handful of Stokies present ( approx 60 or so )seemed to say sod it, stick together, and sang for 90 minutes..the goals only made us sing all the more...
Every song of support , difiance , and just plain mad ones ( I've got a friend called yogi bear ) West Ham mingled in with us and to our right seemed totally taken aback.
End of the game Stoke were kept in for a couple of minutes , when the gates opened several hundred West Ham were waiting outside..believing it was going to go big time..but to be honest given the season we'd had Stoke didn't seem to give a damn and out we went.
As we poured out the West Ham fans broke into applause , as did those that had lined the street waiting for us ..as we walked down the road heads held high proud..at the end of the street was their supporters club , reaching that they poured out to give us what I can only describe as a fantastic send off.
Experienced some rough trips there..but total respect for them that night ..probably one of my best Stoke supporting experiences

Something happened that night that changed my life forever (wont bore everyone) suffice to say that that my loyalty to the Potters seems to have been rewarded ten-fold.

last game was Cov.. we lost 1-0 ...got to know a few Bradford fans who'd come down collecting for their disaster..
less than 7,000 on..but know they were amazed at Stokies kindness and generosity to their plight that night..our own problems were huge , but nothing compared to theirs.
