I don't see it as that bad a thing to be honest.
He certainly isn't going to be universally welcomed by Villa fans (and players from one report I recall?) and I think it's better he's got a few days to muddy the waters rather than him rocking up on the day of the game.
We really need the win and on the positive side we've had a good two weeks to bed everyone in and get any niggles out of the way. The Brit should be buzzing and we know we can compete with Villa as we have already shown.
Goooaaarrrrnnn Stoke!!!

Sorry if mentioned before.
Good or Bad?
Apparently players will revolt against his appointment. Hope this helps us.

We need to get off the mark in this game, no matter what.

Forget about the new manager syndrome and all that bollocks and think about the high that everyone associated with Stoke City should be, following the last coupleof weeks. I really think your going to get an atmosphere closer to that of any of our home games during our first season in the Prem. New signings on show creating a buzz amongst the crowd, older players wanting to prove they still have a part to play and in a game we could really do with winning. Have the boys let us down in any other must win/get somthing from a game. I cant see anything other than a Stoke victory ( but id settle for a draw ).

Its not like hes coming in at the weekend to a fanfare of expectation and universal acclaim to tide Villa to victory. We'll make his return to the Premiership a very uncomfortable experience hopefully.

The last time Houllier bought a team to the Brit we lost 8-0.
Not that it means sod all now. I think we'll win comfortably.

No chance we are Stoke and we will win this game. Sorry but what has hooli achieved of note in recent years? He was with the French FA and we all know how well their World Cup campaign went. I'm going for a comfortable home win on this guys.

I honestly believe this is the most important match since promotion, i know we have improved our squad significantly but once you get rooted on the bottom its dam hard to get out especially in the prem, can't wait for monday but so bloody nervous about this match I would disagree with that and say the following match against wet sham is quite a bit bigger then this one. If rumours are to be belived then the players are not impressed with his appointment and with his negative approach I could see him coming with a defensive line up and being delighted with a point

It's a big game no doubt and I would certainly take a point now, however if we approach the game as we normally do and make them uncomfortable then I can see us beating them. We can beat any team in the Premier League though, it just depends which Stoke City turns up on the day.

He's obviously a genius of a manager if he gave Diao a shot at the Premier League, coz look at what a Stokie legend he turned into

The last time Houllier bought a team to the Brit we lost 8-0. Not that it means sod all now. I think we'll win comfortably. Yes he had Phil Thompson running the team then. Thompson has refused to team up with him this time. Houlliers recent record is not very good and he has been away from English football for a long time. If Pulis is brave and plays his forwards and wingers we will stuff them. I predict if he starts with Gudjohnsen and Jones up front Fuller playing just behind them. Pennant and Ethrington on the wings we will beat them about 6 - 1

I think Tone ought to throw his rulebook away for one game and tell the lads to attack the shit out of Villa, all game just constantly pound the shit out of them.
If we do that and win comfortably, it'll not only increase the players confidence but it might finally get the fans going as well.

I think this will work in our favour. Villa fans and players don't seem to thrilled about this and we could really stick the boot in if we play well and get a good result.
If they were appointing a popular manger universally acclaimed then I would be concerned. But I see this appointment as possibly spliting Villa rather than uniting it.

I'm not worried in the slightest, I don't rate him I know he's won a bit and he had a good couple of years a Liverpool but the rest of his time there was nout special, the odd french title with PSG and Lyon which isn't miracles and the rest of his managerial career hasn't been up to much, not a Villa Legend or out don't think it will have any baring on the outcome of the game personally and I think over the course of the season he'll struggle a bit don't think he'll do a bad job top half easy but I think Villa fans will probably look at it as a disappointing season
