Hmm, you may have a point Bayern, might make Rio step up his game for England like he does weekly for United. Bet Terry is pissed!

I hope Bloody Beckham doesnt start tomorrow

I think he will, but i would stick with Bentley and bring Beckham on in 2nd half for about 30-35 mins.

You are probably right. Bentley did well against the Swiss, But i'd like to see Lennon to play before Beckham does. Beckham hasnt played enough in my opinion

See Lennon's final ball on saturday? It was shocking.

I'm pleased for Rio.
INHO he's the best Central Defender in the world. This added responsibility might up his game at this level, especially when he has to cope with the most over-rated Centre Half since Billy Wright alongside him (yes you, Mr Terry)

I think its a good choice. Terry is always too bothered in arguing with the ref and moaning at every decision. He always seems liable to give away penalties. He constantly grabs on attackers shirts.

I don’t understand why people slate Terry and I wouldn’t have Rio as captain either.
Stevie G for me.
Having said that, I’m not really arsed about the national team after they fucked qualifying up. A bunch of prima dona’s.

WD, I think people slate Terry for the following reasons:
1) He's a Terry Butcher style "blood and guts" defender who bravely sticks his head where the boots are flying but is slower than a milkfloat and positionally dodgy. His style of defending works brilliantly in the fast, physical Premiership, but less so at international level, where he is roughly 1/10 the player he is for Chelsea.
2) He's a hateful, goblin-faced cunt.

Mourinho, Eriksson, Capello etc disagree.

Mourinho isn't an international manager, and Terry works fine in the Premiership, so he's fairly irrelevant.
Sven took some convincing as well - of his three tournaments, Remember, it was Ledley King who started Euro 2004 alongside Campbell.
Cappello is so impressed with him that Rio will lead the team out tomorrow night.

Terry plays for England and Chelsea on merit.

Chelsea absolutely.
England - I think it's as much on reputation as anything. He's a great club defender and a mediocre international one.

Well Capello is known for caring very little about reputations. I suppose time will tell.

I've nothing against Terry per sé, but it often smacks of the Gerrard/Lampard debate that is purported by Southern journalists. Terry isn't a patch on Ferdinand.
Facts are Terry at international level gets found out. He's slow, ungainly, isn't a great distributor of the ball and is cumbersome. In the PL these things can be overseen, especially when given to Terry's unquestionable ability to defend like lives were on the line, but at International level i think both Woodgate & King are better options.
