Eight days to our next game and possibly the most important eight days for a good while. The importance of getting some points on the board cannot be overestimated. We desperately need to break out of the bottom three as early as possible and at least a couple of points would be a start.
On the positive side the injection of fresh faces should povide a motivation and determination for both new and old players, who now face far more pressing competition for their starting places than to date.
Whilst not entirely a new squad there are enough new signings in different positions to really shake things up, although the defensive conundrum still prevails, that being Huth or Wilko at right back. I'd personally move Huth to centre back and play Wilko even though he shows the distribution of a combine harvester.
Higgi or Collins is a similar one for right back, with possibly even Pugh worth a look. Abdy has not been the player he was for a while now but for me is worthy of a place on the bench, similarly with Delap.
So for me, where fit, I'd start with Bego or Sorro in goal, a defense of Wilko, Huth, Shawcross, and Collins, midfield of Pennant, Whitehead, Wilson, and Ethers, and forwards KJ and EG, with the choice from Fuller, Tunny, Delap, Walters, and Abdy on the bench.
The wait has been horrible so let's look forward to the 13th and really show those new signings just what it feels like to be roared onto victory by a tsunami of vocal power and mayhem from the fabulous Stokies of the bearpit.
Happy days. Goooarrn Stoke.

I wouldn't drop Walters at the moment.
Begovic has surely talked his way out of any involvement for the foreseeable future as well.

I really look forward to the Villa game, and hopefully we'll line up something like this:
.................................Sorro................................... Whitehead.....Huth.............Shawcross......Collins .................................Delap (or Wilson)................. Pennant.....................................................Ethers ................................Walters............................... ............................KJ..............Ric...........................
Subs: Eidur, Tunny, Faye, Higgy, Wilson, Glen, Wilko, Bego
I guess TP is in for a selection headache! It's not so easy to pick our best team any more! ;D

I suppose it depends which Villa turns up and if we get a high tempo going and get in their faces early enough. If we sit back we will get slaughtered. The fans are VERY important in this game as we've been a pale shadow of our best so far. We now have the options to take the game to them big time

Walters behind the strikers, what about Eidur and Tunny.

its the central midfield pairing that will be the important decision that tp has to make. my prefferred would be wilson and whitehead as Mr S suggests. i just hope that we use rory as a sub in case we need something late on. we are at the stage where there is no time for favourites, we have to put out our best 11 at all times.
i also like the thought of ric as an impact sub, just when the opposition is tiring, bring him on to run at their defenders.

I think the back four will stay the same as normal, Huth, Ryan Abdy & DC. Our defensive record last season, taking out the Chelsea & Man Utd games, was as good as any. So whilst I agree that we don't have "Real" Fullbacks, we have an effective defence that must be fookin horrible to play against. Walto should play on the right, he has been arguably our best player since he came. I'd play Wilson & Deano in the center, Ethers on the left, with Ric & Kenwyne upfront. EG & Pennant need to force there way, in, I'm not convinced they are 100% fit yet, and Tunch needs to keep showing the form (Finishing aside) he has done when he comes on. I actually think Tunch will look more impressive when the Team settles down, because at every level of Football, it is always easier to play with better players, and the Turk could yet shine!! Gooooaaarn Stoke!!

Then he will bring the subs on to late. Your team, why drop Whitehead and not Delap and drop Huth and not Faye, do you watch the game or only on the radio.
