Decent interview that. Sounds like he was doing what most of us were doing deadline day - watching sky sports news and tracking Eidur's move. Then he himself got a call saying a deal was set up with Stoke if he wanted to go ;D

It is quite a long interview and it will need someone with more patience than me to transcribe it! A transcription will probably appear on the OS tomorrow. It is a belting interview to be honest. He has the reputation of being a bit of a Jack the Lad but he actually speaks well and (fingers crossed) appears to have grown up in his time in Spain. Says he started well in Spain but then the manager got the sack and the new one was more defensive. Also admitted that his lack of Spanish made life harder than it should have been. He only heard the move was on in the afternoon of transfer deadline day. He signed and faxed the papers at 6.30 pm Spanish time (5.30 our time). He's had a full pre season in Spain and thinks he'll soon be up to speed. Is impressed with the players we now have at the club and thinks that we have as good a selection of attackers as most clubs. Reckons we are a club on the up. Can't wait to get involved - and it will be nice to hear the Brit pack shouting FOR him rather than hirling abuse at him. ;D I have to say that watching that has got me quite excited - but I am a sucker for a good news story! Edit: The bit about seeing on Sky Sports that Eidur was at Stoke for talks was quite funny. He says when he saw Eidur was headed for Stoke he thought "that'll be a good signing for them" and then his agent rang and said "a move to Stoke is on if you want it!"

I'll vouch for his 'up to speed' comment from todays training showing. Personally, i thought he showed very deft ball control and appeared far less lightweight than i thought he'd be

That is a cracking interview !! I know you can't take much from words but he seems very happy and really up for it. It made me laugh how he said it will be great to have us behind him because he has always had shit before lol !!! You can tell he will buzz off the crowd. Said the training ground etc is up there with the best and was really impressed. Said TP had given him a good talking too and what he expects The main barrier in Spain was the language and said it will be so good to be able to understand everyone and the managers instructions etc. Great interview anyway and very positive !

goes to show that if you sign a decent player i.e. Eidur,it helps attract other players
if Eidur doesnt do well for Stoke but Pennant does (& dont get me wrong I cant see why they both cant do well) then that in itself justifies the 1st transfer

Does anyone think that if they both do well,we will push the boat out for a permanent move?

Does anyone think that if they both do well,we will push the boat out for a permanent move? Yes if they both do well we'll almost certainly try to get Pennant permanently and extend Eidur's contract for another year. Eidur will be the tough one though - unless his wage demands are lower than they are now - as this year's wages are subsidised by Monaco. However - they MUST prove themselves first.

For Pennant to score would be as rare as hen's teeth. It was, I think, the only goal he scored that season and his career total is still less than 20 goals in league and cups.
Ethers is much more likely to score than Pennant. However, Pennant is at least as good at getting crosses over as Ethers.

More defensive, he has no idea of our tone at all does he, bless, within a month, he will know phrases such as cage, and park the bus, new gestures like water bottle throwing tantrums.
