Michael, I am shocked and very disappointed with your "match report" in the Sunday Mirror. "The fact it is so successful puts the blip of having three FA Cup semi-finalists from the Championship into perspective."
Lovely, not only do you slag off The Championship, but also the best and most prestigious cup competition in the world. "There is much to admire in managers like Gary Johnson, Phil Brown and Paul Sturrock, who make the most of small squads and stretched budgets. "
More lazy journalism. Bristol City spent £1million in the summer, after getting promoted from League One, that's Division Three incase you didn't know. Hull have spent just under £1.5million this year, and Plymouth just under £1million. The reason teams like Hull, Bristol City, Plymouth and STOKE "make the most out of small squads and stretched budgets" in because they wheel and deal in the transfer market. You may not know this but these clubs that have not been in the Premiership and can not afford to throw money around like Chelsea. Maybe if you weren't such a lazy journalist then you may have known that. "But anyone who survives the scramble for promotion will be an instant candidate to replace the current Derby team as the worst side in Premier League history."
Or just maybe whoever goes up may perform very well and be more like Reading, Bolton and Wigan over recent years. Incase you didn't know, the teams you mention have NEVER been in the Premiership and that £40million for getting there is very useful. "Tony Pulis has come up with a version of the game that is not so much Route One, but Year Zero. Football has been stripped to its most basic components, and rebuilt as an endurance test that should be played on an assault course."
How many Stoke games have you watched this season? Saturday we missed three of out best players this season. Again, I don't expect you to know who they are, as you will be to busy watching "Grand Slam Sunday", but for your information they were Ryan Shawcross (in England U21 squad), Liam Lawrence (February's Player of the Month) and Ricardo Fuller (Jamaican International). I'm sure if Liverpool missed Carragher, Gerrard, Torres and Man Utd were missing Vidic, Ronaldo and Rooney there teams would suffer. "But if Stoke are not good enough to dispose of Blackpool, they won't be good enough for Liverpool. The prospect of Fernando Torres meeting the likes of the musclebound Leon Cort is the stuff of comedy."
If you can take your eyes off "Grand Slam Sunday", I suggest you have a closer look at Leon Cort! Musclebound? Your having a laugh! "The Championship is a sea of mediocrity. Teams are built around loan signings, hasbeens and never-will-bes."
I could say the same about you and your newspaper, but I won't bother. Maybe if things like "Grand Slam Sunday" weren't so over hyped then the over paid players would get off their arses and play football every week instead of rotting in the reserves happily taking home £10,000+ a week. "Bristol City, finally succumbing to the strain of overachievement, best capture the overwhelming sense of anonymity. Go on. Name three of their players, without peeking at the line-up elsewhere on these pages."
This comment alone typifies your whole article. LAZY JOURALISM. All because you can't be bothered to look past the Premiership really shows you up. People like you make the gulf between Premiership and The Championship even bigger. Give credit where it's due. "The same could be said for Hull, who find themselves third, although we will hear more of Fraizer Campbell, the young Manchester United striker learning on the job."
Well done you recognised a Man Utd striker on loan. If you weren't so lazy you would have realised that Stoke recently purchased a very exciting centre back from Man Utd, Ryan Shawcross, but all because he wasn't playing on Saturday, you couldn't be bothered to do a little research. Very poor show from such a big national newspaper. "The £40million will come in handy for those who are promoted, but let's get one thing clear. It's the price of almost certain humiliation."
I'd love you to eat those words when Stoke win The Championship and trust me, I will be the first to remind you. I look forward to your reply and your reasoning behind such a mindless article, that's if you can drag yourself away from watching "Grand Slam Sunday" Regards

Great post Padders!! Unfortunately this is the way football is at the moment and until someone comes along and breaks the stranglehold Sky have on the game I fear nothing will change. It is no longer a level playing field and that suits the powers that be to have the top four winning everything. I really hope a Championship team win the Cup it would be a massively refreshing change although with all the corporate bucks they will not see it that way.
I wpould love it just love it if one of the more unfashionable clubs won the league, although it obviously won't happen. The Championship has one massive advantage over The Prem IT IS COMPETITIVE something of which the Premiership can only dream.
Good post though mate.

Good e-mail padders01,
Thought the idiot really showed himself up with his article. The description of Cort and the mark for Gally really summed it up for me.
You made some good points throughout. Not that it will make a blind bit of difference.

The thing is, for every one irate Stoke fan, there will be three Manure fans from Surrey writing in agreeing with the article saying that we shouldn't be darkening the doors of their beloved Premiershit with our brand of football.

Very good email and I hope you get a response. I certainly won'y buy that rag but then that'll be no loss to them as I haven't bought any paper for years now!
It truly was an incredibly poor article he wrote which basically slagged off the league cos it was tight! And heres me thinking competition is what we wanted rather than the boring procession that is the Prem

Top stuff, have karma. One definite winner from the Championship this season will be the bookies. Top 3 with 6 games left, Stoke, Brizzle, Hull?

Apparently, you have to go on a 6-week intensive induction. They don't let you out until you are convinced that Arsené Wenger is in fact the son of God.
Small price to pay to get to report on "Grand Spunk Sunday" though, wouldn't you say?

Absolutely, not only do you have to have an effigy of Wenger inserted into your anus, but you have to attend a glory hole and felch Sir Alex for at least 2 hours a week which will get you a few lines in a column where you can slate all football below the top four in the prem whether you know fuck all about football or not as being an elitist Premiershit cuntbag qualifies you to do so.
