Well have to admit the feedback on Jon Walters debut Saturday has been very favourable indeed saying as when he signed roughly 60% on here slagged him of, either he has had a lucky debut or TP knows a lot more about identifying decent players than a lot of posters on here (you know who you are)

i must admit i wasnt bowled over by him signing and still think the fee was generous, but he gave a good showing on his debut. hopefully he can continue.

The thing I liked most about him was he made a lot of intelligent runs from the front, making space for himself and Ricci. More of the same please. I'd give him a run out tonight to see if he can get his first goal which would help his confidence.

Only an idiot would slag someone off who they either haven't seen or have onlyseen a couple of time several years ago! But sadly this board has a fair few muppets posting on it (mainly the negative ones)
Walters debut was very encouraging, lets hope his form continues in the same way!

I don't wanna be the only to slag him off but I think his performance was massively over exaggerated I was one of the one's disappointed with the signing and he was pretty much exactly what I expected he had a decent game but he did nothing clinical ran about a bit, few good balls and one semi decent shot not exactly the impact player I would like to see us sign he did or8 but I think he's filler he does a job we need with Lozza falling out of favour but he's not as good as Lozza and if we sign a decent player or Lozza does stay I'd hope he'd drop out of favour a bit he'd be an improvement on the 'Mama role' but not much else

I think he's better than anything we've got on the right wing. Plus he looked pretty decent up front with his runs and pace. Didn't se him make many errors and his chasing led to the corner from which we scored. His positioning also looked decent.
Should also have had a debut goal.
Quite please overall with this cheap signing. Definately an improvement to the squad.

I didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised. It seemed strange to have someone in our team that could pass to one of our own players.
Glenn Whelan, watch and learn.

He has the work rate Lawrence showed when he first came to Stoke but he clearly has more pace. We haven't yet seen how good a range of crosses he can put in but he did put in a decent short cross from just outside the area which found Ric who shot at the keeper. Did anyone notice how, when Tuncay drifted out to the wing, he hared into the penalty box to make himself available for a cross? He did a decent job as a striker in the first half, making space for Fuller AND he did decent work to win the corner from which we scored after it looked as though the defender would win the ball. AND he scored a decent goal which was only chalked off because the ref bottled it. I'm not quite sure what more he could reasonably be expected to do in his debut for a team he had only met two days earlier. He'll do for me if he keeps that sort of performance up. I presume he may have been bought as cover for two positions, but he doesn't look out of his depth if he has to start in either of them.

I thought he had an excellent debut, for the inflated prices in the transfer market £2.75M over a period of time is a bit of brilliant work by errr....Peter Coates and Tony Pulis. Jonny was getting the ball from deep, running at defenders, taking a few touches on the ball and then releasing it to the CORRECT player in the RIGHT position, I really can't say that about many of our squad if i'm being brutally honest. if his debut is anything to go by then he's firmly in our 1st XI, either on the right wing or up front supporting whoever, I was very impressed with Walters and yes I was sceptical at first as he'd come from The Championship, only sceptical on past players Pulis has bought in to the club mind you. More of the same Walters!

I don't agree prettyricky...that said, the sentiment of a few posters that we should see how he performs over a defined period of time does seem most sensible. I thought he was brilliant, let's not jinx the lad

Don't get me wrong I like the lad and I think he did a good job but I think his performance was massively over exaggerated a lot of people were jizzing themselves after the match he put in a decent performance and I think he'll do us well but I don't think he's ever gonna be great and I wouldn't be surprised if he went the way of Tonge and Soares who are decent players

Amazing how many people suddenly seem to have predicted he would be a great signing when it was a struggle to find much positive in his signing day. I taught he wasn't going to improve us based on what Ipshit fans said and one good performance doesn't make a good signing but it was an impressive debut and hopefully the 1st of many

I wasn't at all impressed or thrilled before he signed, bt his showing on Saturdaywith his effort, touch, enthusiasm, and passion all bode well for the future - if he keeps the same attitude.
He's also scored tonight (and should have scored on Saturday) - so I can only say that so far I was wrong, and he looks like a definite asset and progress for the club. And he looks like he WANTS to play for Stoke.

Very tidy debut and legitimately opened his account before that twat intervened. The money we have paid isnt a lot compared to the current market and hes a bit of a utility player too.
Whelan needs to sharpen his stumps or else he'll be off to the Championship
