from attending a Stoke match for X amount of years, how do they actually stop you getting into the ground on match day?
???
I'm not banned, just thought of it during a quiet spell today ;D

They've secretly installed Iris recognition at all turnstiles - didn't you know?

After having an initial 5 year ban, reduced to 4 years on appeal i can help with this, the ban usually covers an area , i.e a mile around the ground for instance, you can even get done for breaching you ban if the police suspect you "intend" to get into the ground, like having a ticket on you etc..... If your still brave enough to attend then dont sit in you usual place because police spotters who sit in the control room go through CCTV footage looking for you, they even have a handy folder with all the banned peoples photos in plus information on where they usually sit etc. If you do get banned and do want to attend then the best way is sit somewhere youve never been before like west stand upper for instance....If not then do what i did, move abroad for 3 years, come back , appeal your ban once more and when thats done ring John Allcock the stadium manager and beg him to let you back in because most court / police bans are shorter than the clubs ban, for example, My police ban ran out after 3 years but the club gave me a 7 year ban. Mr Allcock has the final say..........Then you have the trouble of getting your away card..........After 3 seasons of good behaviour i applied for my away card again last week, and at last it has been approved, Its taken me 9 refusals but finally ive got it.......... The short answer is dont get banned cause its a nightmare, if you do, keep appealing everything and do your time, if you get caught in the ground you could be looking at minimum longer ban, usually a short spell in prison. One last kick in the teeth attched to the bans is that your banned from every league ground in england and wales not just stoke, that covers every game down to the conference so your pretty much shafted for finding anything to do on a saturday although the chance of being "spotted" in a random ground are very slim. Hope that covers everything
